Happy Monday!
It’s about making the time. We are all busy in this day and age and expect instant gratification.
People say to me me ‘it’s so easy for you to workout everyday. You don’t have a full time job so time is not an issue.’
... I’m only human and sometimes I love working out and going to a class but other times I just can’t be bothered.
I have got plenty of things I could do instead like coffee with the school Mum’s every morning, the food shop, cleaning my house, catching up on Netflix, taxiing my children, reading with my children, writing personal training sessions or studying for my nutrition course.
But
I MAKE the time for my health and fitness.
Every day I set aside at least 30 minutes to stay active for ME. It could be a dog walk, a quick home workout or a longer trip to a gym class.

I’m having a rest day today after jogging 5 miles last night.
It was amazing and I got a PB of 56 minutes 38 seconds.
Running is not my favourite exercise. I don’t really like it but I do like to do something outside of my comfort zone every year.
... Today my legs feel like concrete and the stairs are not my friend but I feel super proud of myself.
This is the third year I have done the Forest Five. Last year it took me 1 hour 2 minutes and the year before I have no idea as I was just pleased that I made it over the finish line 🏁

Alcohol 🍷
Alcohol can hinder and ruin your fat loss/weight loss journey but a lot of people enjoy their Friday/Saturday nights out.
Both drunk and hung over people tend to eat a lot of junk food.
... Did you know that alcohol contains 7 calories per gram. That’s just the alcohol. Many alcoholic drinks also include carbohydrates, either added for the taste or for the brewing process. You need to add the extra calories in mixers or beer.
Examples:
Red wine - 175ml glass - 13% ABV = 2.3 units 160 calories.
White wine - 175ml glass - 13% ABV = 2.3 units 160 calories.
Prosecco - 125ml glass - 12% ABV = 1.5 units 88 calories.
Strong beer - 330ml bottle - 10% ABV = 3.3 units 210 calories.
Lager - pint - 4% = 2.2 units 190 calories.
Clear spirit shot - 40% ABV = 1 units 56 calories.
TOP TIPS
🍻 If you order food while you are out and drunk go for less greasy options e.g. chicken breast burger, chicken kebab or tikka chicken/beef.
🍻 Have something planned or prepared for when you get home and you have the munchies.
🍻 Try and get back to a balanced diet as soon as possible. Fruit and vegetables will restore lost minerals and hydration and make you feel better.
🍻 Plan you breakfast, lunch and dinner the following day. A desire for greasy food could be sated by some eggs on toast with bacon. I used to wake up the morning after the night before and have two McDonalds egg muffins, two hash browns and a can of coke. For lunch I would order a pizza and for dinner we would get an Indian takeaway.
With better planning I now have scrambled eggs on toast with orange juice for breakfast, pasta with some tomatoes and cucumber for lunch and a home cooked curry for dinner.
🍻 Try to get active. Walking helps alleviate hangovers.
🍻 Hydrate. Alcohol is a mild diuretic which can leave you dehydrated.
