Classical Art Academy

Teaching drawing and oil painting in classes and short courses from our Bournemouth studio, housed in a beautiful Edwardian house. We also run Art Holidays along the south coast.

The Classical Art Academy (CAA) is a family owned and run art school. After raising six children between us, it was time to start building the dream we shared so we founded the CAA in 2010, here in our beloved Dorset.

We specialise in teaching classical drawing and oil painting techniques from the Old Masters of the Renaissance. This method is steeped in the tradition of learning directly from the artist in his /her atelier (meaning studio).

Our delightful, bijou, 8 easel studio is within walking distance of the beautiful sandy beaches of Bournemouth.

Martin has been drawing and painting all his life. Having understudied in the studio of a renowned London portraitist, he developed into a successful painter in his own right with many celebrated commissions. In 2004 he opened his own gallery and began master tutoring in 2007.

Rachel studied art and design in the 1980s. After a successful career as a holistic massage therapist, relaxation coach and teacher working in many parts of the world she returned to her first love of painting and has been a practising artist since 2010.
