This was the first time we had used an airport hotel and didn't think it would be up to other hotels' standards. How wrong we were. The reception staff were very helpful and friendly. We ate lunch in the Aviator Bar - the food was fab (chilli beef, chips etc). For our evening meal we had 3 courses in the main restaurant - the service was top notch and the food even better (potato and leek soup served with a delicous chunk of bread, sea bass, lemon chicken, sticky toffee pud and vanilla cheesecake). What an amazing start to our holiday - oh, and the room was great, comfy and clean. The airport shuttle bus driver was lovely and extremely helpful too. Many thanks to all concerned - would definitely highly recommend.

User

Really nice hotel and super friendly.. my suitcase broke when I arrived at the hotel and staff were very helpful... going online and out of their way to help me. Highly recommended rooms are lovely and enjoyed my stay

User

Pick up from train station within three minutes from phone call. Quick check in,lovely girl on desk. Room clean and spacious, pillows a bit soft but ok, (slept in in morning). Only complaint was we wanted a pizza for tea, the only way we could get one was by room service, so had to go back to room,we would rather have stayed at bar, bus in morning was great, driver very pleasant told exactly where to go. Would I recommend and stay again, definitely a big yes.

User

I just want to thank all the staff at The Clayton at Manchester Airport for taking my mum and disabled dad in at short notice and turning a room around for them way before normal check in time. They had had a nightmare journey after their flight was redirected and then became stranded in Manchester as their taxi couldn’t take them any further due to the severe weather conditions. The guys here were amazing and couldn’t do enough to help my parents. It was a relief to know they were safe and warm and had somewhere to rest their very weary heads.

User

A huge thank you from all the Olympus girls and their parents who stayed with you last weekend. We were looked after really well and especially on Sunday evening with the party for the girls! Thanks again! See you again next year

User

Very good service from start to finish. The reception was really busy with a huge group booking but the staff were friendly and efficient. the restaurant was huge and very busy but again staff were great and we didn't have to wait too long. Special mention for our waiter Vincenzo he was so polite, such a nice guy and seemed genuinely pleased our food was good.

The free shuttle bus turned up bang on time, will definitely stay here again

User

Update from my previous review. Stayed at the Clayton with family. Really enjoyed my stay. All of the staff were very helpful and friendly. Our room was spacious and bed very comfortable. Enjoyed the set meal in the evening and breakfast was great with lots of variety. I availed of parking at the hotel. It was very convenient and good value. Thank you everyone at Clayton

User

Stayed at The Clayton Manchester the night before an early morning check in at Manchester Airport. Upgraded to a room on the Executive Floor which was very nice and comfortable. Had a couple of drinks & light bites in the busy bar for an evening meal which was enjoyable. Just two minor negative things to comment on. Firstly, had a Tabbouleh Salad which arrived as a bowl of giant couscous with a few tiny red flecks that I am assuming was red pepper? I lived in the Middle East for many years. Tabbouley consists on fresh parsley, fresh mint, tomato & red onion all very finely chopped with couscous added & then a vibrant dressing of olive oil & fresh lemon juice. That is Tabboulah. Perhaps a description of the food should be added to menu? Secondly, I was awake through the night and there was no internet between 3.30 am & 5.30 am. I tried every ten minutes on both iphone & ipad & no internet connection until it sprung to life at 5.30 am. I am travelling with my husband who was sleeping, otherwise I would have telephoned Reception to enquire what the problem was. Will definitely use the Clayton Hotel at Manchester Airport again though.

User

Had to wait a long time to check in. Room well appointed but far too warm as window only opened so far.

User

Stayed one night with my husband, 15 year old daughter and her friend before an early flight. The room was nice enough but there was no door between the double and twin rooms meaning that there was no privacy for the two teenagers, an issue particularly as one was not a family member. There was only one TV remote shared between the two rooms and the Sky remotes were not programmed to adjust the TV volume. The lack of division between the two rooms meant having both of the TV's on at once got quite noisy. The Sky remote in the main room also controlled the TV in the twin room, meaning every time I turned the TV over it also changed what the girls were watching. Fortunately, their remote didn't affect our TV so they were able to turn back to their programme once I had found something to watch.

These were minor inconveniences though; the restaurant service was a (bad) joke. Firstly, I want to point out that it wasn't extremely busy by the time we went in (7.45pm). The waiter tried to serve the party next to us first who had arrived six or seven minutes after us and weren't even ready to order, having only been seated a few minutes. Despite managing to place our order before them, their food arrived first and we waited waited forty minutes before I had to go and ask where our order was!

It arrived very shortly after I complained. There was no apology for the delay and nobody came to check that the obviously rushed out meals were satisfactory; my husband and I had both ordered the duck dish and whilst his his meal included the black berry sauce as described on the menu, mine didn't.

Having two teenagers with us, we decided to chance ordering a dessert. It took fifteen minutes for them to realise that they didn't have the chocolate fondant I had ordered and a further eight minutes to deliver two cheesecakes and two brownies to our table.

We have another early flight from Manchester in February but it's highly unlikely we will book at The Clayton again.

User

Staffs try to enter my roon while i was sleeping. Lucky that i was add double locked.

Lunch, i enter the bar. Nobody care and even greeting. I walk around and find staffs. One gentlemen wear suite came to talk. I ask for menu. I order. I wait and wait. I ask the man wears the suites again where is my food? He said a miniutw. I wait. It was took a long to get a food. Later finish the main. I order one cake with boy. And again it was taken long and i ask the billa with girl. Can i have bills? She said yes moment. And i wait and wait....i can not wait anymore. I wne to desk to get bills and paid. The dessert was not arrived i was mad. Til dessert rrived. I took it with me.

And i can not ignore this issue. I ask manager at front and complained to her what was went wrong. She said she will ask bar.

Thia ia unacceptable.

Please report to your Gm and Director FB!

Thank you for a great room rate.

User

Miserable night! Was so hot in the room it was suffocating. Window barely opened 4 inches. Our room was right above the entrance/ reception so all we heard was loading and I unloading of bags all night. We are exhausted and annoyed!

User

How do you justify £90 for a room..

No breakfast, room only..

Bar prices... Scandalous..

Food prices.. we paid £14 for 2 tuna & cucumber sandwiches..

£18 for a lamb shank..?

I can pay £12 for a full leg of lamb.

I understand you have overheads, but please, play the game...

Never again... shocking.

Dick Turpin had the audacity to wear a mask....!!

User

i have never been so offended by members of staff. Service was terrible. Treated like we didnt even matter. tried to charge us £100 for crumbs on the carpet. So i had to clean the room myself. 4 star. Ive stayed in better hostels. Absolute disgrace. Avoid at all costs

User

The hotel was lovely shame about the scenario me and my partner have found ourselves in - stayed over two weeks ago and were charged £160 for one nights stay and 5 nights parking. Only to notice on check out we’ve been charged twice. Minimum of 10 phone calls to the hotel and a million promised return calls we still have no refund or any apology or offer of compensation. Seems we are somewhat of a nuisance to the hotel even though we are the ones left out of pocket. Appalled that nobody can clear such a simple mistake over 2 weeks after it was noted.

User

Still waiting to be refunded £160 after they made me pay on check in and again on check out claiming my card had been declined! After multiple phone calls, complaints etc still no refund, it's been 3 weeks. Appalled at how all of it has been dealt with.

User

Stayed at the hotel on Sunday 8th of July before an early flight the next day. Unfortunately I left a large bag full of toiletries, expensive perfume, skin care etc.. about £250 worth of stuff minimum. I know for a fact it was left there as I woke up early for my flight used my face wash and tooth brush from the bag and headed to the airport for my flight on arriving in Italy I discovered I had left it there when I opened my double locked suitcase. I called the hotel that day in the hopes someone could confirm it had been found, however I was told every day for the next 5 days someone would check and call me back. Finally I asked to speak with the manager who advised he would personally check, surprise surprise my bag was never found. I really found the manager Ali to be patronising saying if the staff didn’t find it it wasn’t in there? Of course it was I used it that morning and went straight from the hotel to the airport for my flight. If it wasn’t in my suitcase then I left it behind at the hotel. He also assured me that the staff member who cleaned the room personal belonging were checked, 5 days after I called everyday to ask if it had been found. Wouldn’t stay there again, I had to order a takeaway as the 24hour room service wasn’t available, the reception advised me to use just-eat and she would kindly bring it up to me, when I called to say the driver had arrived with my food delivery and ask a member of staff from reception if they could bring it up to me as I was dressed in my nightmare they gave me attitude.

User

DO NOT stay here after a late night flight expecting the opportunity to catch up on sleep.

After a delayed flight I arrived at the hotel around 4am to be told my booking was down as a “no show”. They got it sorted while the guy behind the desk spoke to the girl behind the desk like she was an idiot, only for us to be put in a room right outside the courtesy bus pick up area.

Basically no sleep is allowed in that room while you listen to the drivers shout, argue, slam doors, etc all through the rest of the night and morning.

For spending £125 I’d have been better spending £25 on Red Bull and driving the 4 hours home at 4am. Instead we left for a drive home less refreshed that when I arrived.

User

Bar staff prioritised other guests before us and when being served a manager told the member of staff to serve someone else while preparing out drinks. Our room was £300 for two nights and didn’t have airconditoning or reasonable ventilation. Room service food was abismal and not palatable. Then to top it off they tried to charge us £150 for damages to the room because of some spilt water, buiscuit crums and carrier bags. Either we cleaned the room ourselves or paid the fine. We had a taxi booked almost missed our flight because the hotel delayed us so much. Appalling from start to finish couldn’t recommned a place less. Felt victimised as we are 3 younger men and staff took a disliking because of it. I’ve stayed in better hostels.
