Last night nine special constables worked alongside their regular colleagues in Stockton and Hartlepool. Several officers were assaulted by a particularly violent individual that they were trying to help and support. Despite being kicked, head butted and spat at, the officers retained their professionalism and ensured the detained party was cared for and treated humanely. We realise we are the police, but we are humans too, with families that worry about us. We are not easily put off though and will be back out again very soon. #specialcontribution

We deployed 2 Specials RPU vehicles across the county last night to support Cleveland & Durham RPU. In addition to attending multiple RTC’s we conducted speed checks. The below shows one of the results from Yarm Road which is a 30mph limit - this driver will now be summoned to court. Another driver will also be dealt with after being found driving at 71mph in a 50mph limit on Queen Elizabeth Way in Ingleby Barwick. #Fatal4 #SCRPU

Yesterday members of the Special Constabulary and Cleveland Police Cadets joined over 100 emergency services personnel, partner agencies, friends and family to walk an amazing 20.5 miles of the Cleveland Way as part of the our Blue Light mental health torch relay in the scorching heat in support of the fabulous MIND Charity and an occasion to remember all of our ‘fallen heroes’ - we will never forget. ❤️💙💚

An amazing stop last night for our Special RPU unit Sergeant. He stopped a white van for its manner of driving. Checks revealed the driver had no insurance for the vehicle and no driving license either. Our sergeant noticed the male was very unsteady on his feet so administered a drugs wipe which the driver failed. The male was arrested and when searched, had a number of controlled substances on his person. Most worrying however, was the can of CS in his possession which is classed as a firearm. The male became very aggressive and our single-crewed sergeant had to request assistance, which is always horrible to hear over your radio. Assistance arrived, and the male was soon under control and on his way for a night in the cells. #Thisisus247/365

Last night our officers were happy to support the hundreds of walkers doing the midnight walk along the coast at Redcar in support of Teesside Hospice. Teesside Hospice offers palliative care for people over the age of 18 who are living with a life-limiting illness when a cure is no longer possible. Care is provided 24 hours per day, 7 days a week, 365 days per year and reaches thousands of local people. In fact our officers even joined in and walked the route with the rest of the walkers and made sure every last walker made it back safe and sound in the early hours of the morning. Well done to all the fantastic walkers making a difference! #specialcontribution #TeessideMidnightWalk

National Volunteers Week is great as it highlights the great work completed by so many people for free. It isn’t just one week though, this is us 24/7 365.

Over 100 breath tests completed. We are happy to say that most of those tested recorded a reading of zero. One very lucky chap blew just under the prescribed limit - not enough to be arrested but not acceptable either. #nationalvolunteersweek

Two Middlesbrough SC Officers worked 24 hours over two days as part of Volunteer's Week.
On the first night just as they were starting their duty they observed a male driving his vehicle whilst on his mobile phone. The vehicle was stopped and driver issued with a traffic offence report
The next incident was reports of criminal damage to a window and males fighting in the address. One male was arrested on suspicion of criminal damage.
... Following this there was a burglary from a house. A mobile phone and bank card had been stolen. The phone had sentimental value as it had photos on of the victims family. A full report was taken and submitted. The investigation is ongoing.
The final job of the night was one of our officers observed a female swearing in public. As our officer was challenging this behaviour a drunken male she was in company with decided to swear at our officers. His behavior was also challenged but he continued to swear. Our officer arrested him for being drunk and disorderly.
The second night began with searching for a missing person. Unfortunately he was not located and the search continues.
The next incident was a female who was barred from a fast food restaurant, she had turned up and was refusing to leave. She had already left before our officers arrived. However, they did locate her and give her words of advice.
This was followed by an abandoned 999 call. When our officers attended the address it was established it was the result of a domestic incident between partners. One party had left the address. A safeguarding report was submitted.
There was then an incident of an elderly female who had been assaulted outside a licensed premises. Our officers assisted in speaking to witnesses, reviewing CCTV and conducting house to house enquiries. The investigation is ongoing.
Plenty more incidents certainty kept us going over the weekend. #specialsweekend19
