Clinical Skills & Simulation Centre Space Management & Development

Charles and Paul have been working in Simulation Centres for King's College London & the University of Greenwich for a combined 26 + years! Charles led the design of the King's Undergraduate Weston SaIL Centre project in 2016, before moving to the University of Greenwich in 2019 to design & build a new, state of the art, Simulation Centre. Charles has successful delivered 2 very high tech Simulation Centres and has worked as a consultant on the design of other Centres. Paul has led the design of the part refurbishment of the Chantler SaIL Centre, where a total of 358m2 of teaching space (made up of existing and new space) has been converted into a combination of simulated wards, flat clinical classrooms & a home environment. Both Charles and Paul are Prince 2 qualified & have extensive experience in project managing the delivery of new simulation training spaces. One of the main benefits of Charles & Paul's experience, is lessons learnt. Time & time again they have seen the same mistakes repeated around new simulation Centres. 1 of the biggest mistakes that Centres make is, they forget about storage. "You can make the most fantastic centre with really impressive features, but if you don't have anywhere to store the wide range of kit you're going to need, you end up with classrooms that look terrible because they become the store area. This greatly limits how much you can expand & develop your teaching, because you have nowhere to keep it all" Paul. Charles & Paul offer consultancy advice on planning & designing new or refurbished spaces, from simply offering advice on already made plans to designing; space, equipment needs, audio visual requirements, policies & procedures (e. g. Health & Safety, timetabling, equipment request procedures etc. ).
