In July we received a phone call from a company in Shropshire needing some help with a very much 'Obsolete application'. A Kramer Crawler 311 wheel loader from the late 60's / early 70's. The customer had spoken to every reconditioner in the UK and Europe, and even spoke to LUK who originally manufactured this application of clutch. LUK couldn't help as they don't make parts for these anymore, however, they gave the customer Clutchfix's number!!!
A little star struck you co...uld say, we accepted to look at the job and see if we could work a little Clutchfix magic on it!
When she came in, we realised just how big a job this was going to be. It is actually what we would call the earliest DSG Clutch (Direct Shift Gearbox). There are only 2 gear, forward and back, run from 2 clutches which are bolted together as one. The diaphragm springs on both packs were broken, the pressure plates in need of extreme attention and someone had tried to rebuild the clutch before us and got it very wrong which is why we think the springs are broken in the first place!
We replaced the diaphragm springs with new ones, had the pressure plate built back up with metal thrown on, and then relined both drive plates back to the standard spec.
We then tested this clutch to make sure it would all work and clear when refit into the Kramer.
End result? One very very happy customer who thought his Crawler was going to have to be scrapped as in his words 'You were the final destination before the bin'.

Last week was a week of International Tractors! This is a Case international 885 1989 4WD 12" Rockford clutch rebuilt for Bradley Davies on his winter rebuild!
Clutch and flywheel arrived for inspection and quoting and we found that the flywheel needed a new wear plate as the current casting was breaking through on the running face where the original bolts were fit.
✔️All the springs in the pressure plate were strength tested to make sure they are strong enough to run anot...her life. ✔️Replaced all 3 adjusting lever nuts, the release bearing and even sent a new drive plate with the kit as the old unit had seen much better days! ✔️Tested the clutch and flywheel in situ as a package to make sure it all lifts & clears correctly

Something we rebuilt last week.
International 2275 Tractor clutch kit.
11" Borg & Beck with a 5 paddle ceramic drive plate in which the tractor left the factory over 30 years ago with!
... The main plate for the drive disc was warped so we have had a new main plate drawn by our in-house draftsman and then cut via a laser cutter.
The springs were all pressure tested to make sure they were still in spec, we found that 2 were too worn to reuse so we had them replaced with new springs from our stock.
Customer is very very pleased with the end result and the vehicle is back out and working!

A tiny clutch from yesterday's list of jobs.
7" Ford 100E vintage car. This clutch had been rebuilt before coming into Clutchfix Ltd, and had been set incorrectly so one of the levers had dropped. We also managed to source a new OEM release bearing.
... Now this little car is ready for another life on the road!

This morning a lovely 1949 Series 1 1600cc clutch came in to see us!
The unit was fairly poorly, 2 of the coil springs had collapsed and the linings worn out.
✔️Replaced broken coil with new spring from stock... ✔️Correct Lever type on the cover (incorrect when the lever is split as this is for a clutch running with a release plate ✔️Saved customer money having the clutch rebuilt
This little unit is ready for another life, and look how good she is!

Something a 'Little' different!
We have recently done a job on a 'Fiat Cinquecento Inbetweeners sleeper' for Ashley Whitsey.
The car has been seen on Santa Pod race track beating ST's and other cars with a much higher rep! The reason? Engine conversion from a 1.4 Fiat 500 Turbo (232BHP) with full 4x4 running gear!
... What have we created? Well, this is a track car and the customer wanted to make sure that he has the best possible start, so we created a 3 Paddle ceramic plate and reduced the size of the clutch to incorporate a double diaphragm system to aid with the increase of power.

Spoke with Ben and told him my requirements for my landrover. Sent me the hd clutch kit and bearing. Have given it abuse from day 1 and no issues. (Standard Valeo clutch would have given up by now)

Also made the notorious heavy clutch pedal lighter.

Second time I have used clutchfix, fitted at hd1 do my defender td5 and it was the bees knees and just fitting a paddled clutch to my challenge truck. Ben is very knowlageble and gives me a lot of confidence over this product. Is nice to talk to someone who is passionate about what they do instead of an off the shelf product that someone is flogging. Recommended to a lot of my off-roading friends and will be using this company in the future

Ordered a single mass flywheel and double diaphragm clutch for my Discovery td5 commercial. An amazing bit of kit, epic quality and very good value! Good pedal feel, minimal noise and as expected, huge clamping force!

Only driven 10 miles on my new td5 clutchfix clutch but can honestly say it's the nicest I have had (This being number 5). Really nice pedal feel and lighter than expected. Recommend to anyone.

Have to give ourselves a 5*, working with a top team producing some very high quality product, day in, day out is great and long may it continue!
