About Co-Operative College

Great things happen when people co-operate.

Co-Operative College Description

We are an educational charity dedicated to the promotion of co-operative values, ideas and principles within society.

We work with co-operatives across the UK and throughout the world. Our focus is on delivering programmes that help individuals and groups gain the skills and understanding needed to put co-operative values and principles into effective practice, with the ultimate aim of helping build successful co-operative businesses. We work with a wide range of universities, government departments and non-governmental organisations, together with a rapidly growing network of co-operative schools.

The College is the UK’s leading knowledge centre on co-operation, drawn from nearly 100 years’ experience of working with co-operatives throughout the world. We host the National Co-operative Archive, which traces the development of co-operative ideals and how a vision of a better world was translated into today’s global movement.

The vision and values of the pioneers of co-operation are at the heart of all the college's learning programmes, projects, and resources.

Our research team helps to build the knowledge base and inform wider policy debate, whilst our work with schools and young people is taking co-operation to a new generation.

Who's in the mood for an inspiring post this Friday afternoon? ⤵️
These women are all genocide survivors, all rape survivors and all absolutely amazing. They've formed a co-operative to learn to trust again, support one another and to try work their way out of poverty ☺
They named the co-operative ‘Buranga’ in Kinyarwanda (Rwanda’s native language) which means ‘beauty.’ Swipe left for a look at some of the fantastic items they make 🇷🇼... . Our colleague Andrea is out in Rwanda delivering 'Train the Trainer' sessions at the moment and took these fab images. It's all part of our work with We Are Tearfund- look out for more updates over the next few days.

Here's the news you've all been waiting for - we're thrilled to announce the launch of our Together Enterprise project as part of our Co-operatives Fortnight celebrations 🎉 . The project, funded by the Co-op, will see 14 Drake Street in Rochdale transformed into an enterprise hub, offering young people the support and opportunity to set up their own co-operative business 💻
Ahead of the launch, we asked what businesses they'd like to see in their town. You can also read more about the project here http://bit.ly/CoopTog

This is just an empty shop, right?
Wrong!
Until recently it was home to the longest established family business in Rochdale (1903!) and we've got some very exciting news about the future of the building to share with you on Thursday.
