Fancy a veggie fact? Heritage carrots come in purple, red, yellow and black, which is how carrots used to be before Dutch growers developed a uniform orange variety, supposedly in honour of their national colour.
Well, there we go! We love to bake our heritage carrots with thyme and rock salt, how do you serve them?

This "untidy-looking", colourful cousin of the broccoli can be used in much the same way. Leafier and deeper in colour than calabrese, it adds vibrancy and crunch to vegetable dishes.
In season between February and April, Purple Sprouting is very nutritious, full of good vitamins and iron. What's your favourite dish for purple sprouting?

Seville Oranges aren't just for marmalade, they make a fabulously good gin too! And with Dry January DONE (as of midnight tonight!) we thought we'd share the recipe on how to make a Seville Orange Gin.
All you'll need is: β€’ 4 Seville oranges β€’ 150g caster sugar... β€’ 1 ltr gin
The steps: Finely pare the zest from 4 Seville oranges (avoiding the pith) and pop in a clean jar with 150g caster sugar. Squeeze in the juice from 1 orange and stir in 1 ltr gin. Seal, store the jar in a dark place and give it a shake every day for two weeks. It'll be ready to drink – just strain the gin into a sterilised bottle and store in your drinks cupboard. Serve in a tall glass with tonic water, plenty of ice and a wedge of orange. YUM!

Dear Customer
You may have already spotted our smart new signs but our lovely new website is now ready to be viewed so we would like to make the following announcement:
Manydown Farm Shop has been part of the Cobbs family since 2012. Since then we’ve been incredibly proud to be able to serve our loyal customers with excellent produce and levels of service. Over recent months we have been working towards an exciting re-brand, deciding to strengthen our links to the wider Cobbs... group. Manydown Farm Shop will therefore be re-branded to Cobbs at Manydown, sitting alongside sister sites Cobbs Farm Shop, Cobbs at Englefield and Cobbs at Winchester.
Our flagship farm shop, Cobbs at Hungerford has long been the source of fresh seasonal produce and homemade products for us. It is the home of our farm, kitchen and award-winning vineyard, Alder Ridge Vineyard. Throughout the year our farm shop shelves are filled with Cobbs homegrown rhubarb, asparagus, soft fruits, squash, pumpkins and English Sparkling Wine. Whilst Cobbs Kitchen is the origin of our homemade food, including our popular homemade sausage rolls, quiche, pΓ’tΓ© and range of ready meals.
We are proud to provide a platform for so many wonderful local producers on our door step here in Hampshire and we look forward to continuing to offer customers the best of local and beyond, but under our new alias Cobbs at Manydown. We are still the same, we’ve just got a new name.
With Love and Goose Fat, All The Team @ Cobbs at Manydown
