As a small self employed business owner the realisation is starting to hit that I will not be able to get any financial assistance. I was advised to change my sole trader business to a Ltd company a few years ago... “it’ll be safer”....oh no...it isn’t in this situation 😱 My business supported my family, and my receptionists families and my associate podiatrists families. Please spare us all a thought trying to cope in this situation with zero income.... I’ve completely closed and donated all my ppe equipment to the nhs.... I hope through all this, when everything goes back to “normal” and we try to reopen the practice again, folk may try and support me and my staff to try and rebuild the service we were previously providing xxx stay safe guys... xxx Adele xxxx

Loved this idea one of my patients suggested....❤️👣❤️
Adele. Have thought about having a cat flap fitted in your door, we could sit on a chair outside put our feet through the cat flap.......... well you get the idea.

Thank you Debbie Basnett for this feedback and information. We need to keep as many of us safe and out of hospital at the moment. If you have a foot, ankle or lower limb problem please give us a call on 01900 826980
" My family will be forever indebted to Adele and her amazing team. I made a phone call to Adele back in November to ask Adele to have a look at my dad's toe. He had been having problems with pains in his legs for a number of years, his mobility deteriorated over... a couple of years, borderline diabetic and for a month or so was complaining about his toe. A number of visit and telephone appointments to the GP and a visit to A and E and still we were getting no where. I called Adele in sheer desperation as my gut instinct was telling me there was a problem. Adele came out the very next morning and within a few minutes of seeing my dad instantly knew there was a major problem. How right was she! I can honestly say that without the quick action and expert knowledge of Adele, my dad would not be here today. We cannot that Adele and her team enough and their after care and support throughout all of this has been above and beyond. Dad has a long way to go but without Adele's knowledge and expertise we would have been in a totally different situation.
My reply... "Cockermouth Chiropody/Podiatry Thank you Debbie Basnett...I need people to realise that Podiatrists can recognise and, diagnose, possibly life threatening conditions, even by just listening to your history and symptoms. Before I even saw your dad my gutt instinct and experience told me it was something serious..... a blocked Aorta and critical limb ischaemia was something that I am proud to say I recognised and definitely saved his legs but possibly also his life.....I love my job ....Give you, your family and your dad a special virtual hug from me... Look after those precious feet.
Stay safe guys XXXX

👣💔👣 COCKERMOUTH CHIROPODY/ PODIATRY IS CLOSED TEMPORARILY👣💔👣
Due to both Government restrictions on movement imposed due to the Coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic, the clinic is closed with immediate effect. I am trying to contact all patients with appointments, currently booked in till the 13th April (covering the next 3 weeks, so far) Please share this information to help reach everyone involved.
... This closure is to aid reduction of the speed of the spread to help hopefully "Flatten the Curve" of transmission.
We will update both the website, facebook page and the answerphone message as we get new information.
Can you help us by NOT leaving messages for general queries about fees, foot conditions etc at this time, to allow any Acute concerns to filter through the system.
We must reitterate, we are Not permitted to treat our usual caseload.
The thick/curved/painful nails and the callus and corns we deal with daily are not Acute lesions, while we fully understand they are painful. It is very hard as clinicians for us NOT to treat patients, but for the greater good of us all, we Must stick to the rules to try and keep us all as safe as we can from this horrific and deadly virus.
IF and only if you have an acute issue; i.e. a fiercely red swollen, weeping lesion or wound site, leave your contact number and Adele will call you to discuss options for that specific emergency situation.
As a small business it is not clear how much government assistance we will recieve, if any, so please be assured these events are out of our control and deeply concerning on many levels; as a Clinician, Mother and Business owner.
Take care of the ones that you love and stay safe.
We will see you all on the Other Side of the Curve.
Love and hugs Adele xxxx

Just been sent these pictures and I’ve got permission to post them to show you how we can help during this difficult period. This condition has not happened over night but the patient is now concerned what to do... and he realises that going to the doctors is not an option. I’ve been able to provide a remote consultation and advised a treatment plan which will avoid hospital admission should this feet get infected. If you have a foot problem... please don’t bother the doctor.... give the practice a call on 01900 826980, leave a message with your name and number... I’ll call you back for a consultation xxx Adele #stayathome

End of a busy day, just deep cleaning the clinic and waiting room.... taking all barrier nursing precautions that I have always used. I’ve worked with leprosy, HIV, MRSA etc... I’m doing my best to continue providing a Podiatry service within Cumbria. I’ve performed a surgical procedure today under local anaesthetic and treated a lady with a limb threatening foot ulceration. Trying to keep going in the circumstances.... my duty of care to patients kicks in and it’s difficul...t to be selective who we see. If you, your family or you think you’ve been somewhere to put yourself at more risk..... please please don’t consider coming to my practice.... I’m a cancer survivor and high risk but, as a medical professional, I have a duty of care to provide a service to the public. The clinic door is locked and you will not be allowed entry without prior screening, then strict hand cleaning and then non touch policy. Please try to take care and look after eachother during this difficult time. X Adele

To all patients attending the practice... On arrival, the waiting room door will be locked until the patient before you has vacated the premises. We would advise you wait in your car until the receptionist calls you inside. Once inside the waiting room we are providing clinell wipes and alcohol gel for you to use before entering the clinical area. If you have any symptoms, even minor suspected sniffles, you will not be allowed into the practice. I hope you all appreciate th...at for us to continue the medical service, we provide for the public, we need to keep our patients, our staff and ourselves safe. We apologise for any inconvenience and thank you all for your co operation during this difficult time. Xxx Adele and staff xxx

Email from the College of Podiatry Coronavirus: A message to our members
Dear Adele
... Following the Government's announcement yesterday that the UK is moving from the 'contain' to the 'delay' stage in relation to trying to manage the Coronavirus outbreak, I am writing to you to provide you with an update.
The College has a duty of care to look after its staff, members and in turn their patients. Therefore, due to the seriousness of the virus and the impact it could have on patients and the need for our members to be on the frontline, we have decided that it is important to minimise the risks where possible.
For this reason, the College of Podiatry offices at Quartz House in London will be closed for up to four weeks from today, Friday 13 March 2020. All staff have been asked to work from home during this time. All phone lines and email addresses are in operation. The College has the IT infrastructure in place to allow its staff to work remotely and to be able to access to all of the College's phone lines, so there should be minimal disruption to the support we provide to members during this time. As this is an ongoing situation, this will be reviewed regularly by the Executive Team at the College and it will keep members informed of any updates or changes to these arrangements.
Conferences, events and courses
In light of this situation, the College has taken the decision to postpone the following events:
• The Faculty of Podiatric Surgery Conference on 19 – 20 March is being postponed to a later date
• The Wales Podiatric Medicine Conference on 20 – 21 March is being postponed to a later date
• The Student Conference in Glasgow on 28 March is being postponed to a later date
• The Vascular Module, due to take place at Quartz House on Friday 19 March, is being postponed to a later date
Please visit the College of Podiatry website for guidance, resources, information and updates on the Coronavirus. Best wishes and keep well,
Steve Jamieson CEO and General Secretary College of Podiatry © College of Podiatry 2020 207 Providence Square, Mill Street, London. SE1 2EW. ‍020 ‍7234 ‍8620
