Cockfields Farm Description

It’s hard to imagine a sack of potatoes could lead to the North West’s leading aquatic store but that is exactly what happened at Cockfields ……. selling potatoes at the front gate in 1966, to fruit and vegetables in part of the chicken shed and, in 1999 selling a few goldfish. This then led on to selling tropical fish and, in 2004, marine fish and corals.

Brothers Cole (8) and Jenson (6) learning how to safely use secateurs today at Forest School 😃

User

visited with my husband and 3 children today, the kids loved touching and helping with the animals and loved the snake. good picnic areas and outdoor play things.

staff were lovely and friendly and seemed to have great knowledge about the animals.

was very clean for a farm and lots of hand washing stations.

as for the price you can stay all day and there are so many activities to do to keep everyone busy and entertained we didn't find it expensive at all. we took our own food but did look at the menu which seemed reasonable for lunch stuff.

will be returning again and reccomending to others

User

had my daughters birthday party here today and it was actually amazing. her party host owen was awesome as were all the other staff. plenty for the kids to do and if you love animals as much as i do you would be in your element! i really cant rate it enough its one of the best days out ive ever had. thank you to all the staff that made my daughter and her friends day special will defo be coming back again

User

Visited today (5 adults & two children) & it was such a fantastic day! There’s so much to do and the staff are lovely. We got up close and fed the animals, washed pigs, held a chameleon & lots more. Not to mention the massive bouncy hill outside! We looked like big kids on that. Really family friendly unlike a lot of farms previously visited. Would definitely recommend! Can’t wait to go back.

User

Took our boys last week. They loved it. The young girl who was out with all the animals was amazing with out eldest who is 8. He followed her around helping her get all the things together for each showing of the animals. Honestly she definitely needs some recognition from the owner. She was polite and informing on every question. Nothing was too much trouble.

Food is a good price with a small range of different things to suit everyone.

Photo of the girl mentioned is in comments hope she doesn’t mind.

Took my 2 year old son for the first time yesterday. Weather was gorgeous which was a bonus! Paid £25.05 to get in for 3 of us and thought it was a good price dont know why everyones moaning animals need to eat staff need paying? We took our own picnic but we did buy a few drinks which was not over priced at all. We spent a good 2 and half hours here seen all the animals and my son played on the out door bouncy castle for a while and the outdoor play area he loved it. He got to feed alot of the animals help brush the rabbits and help clean ths tortoise. And then played in the indoor bit for a while. We all had a great day and spent no more than £30 which is nothing really and we had a happy child at the end of it

User

So much to do for the kids brilliant day out. Staff are great. It’s was the end of the day and my nephews were seeing the reptiles before we left and the lady came over and was telling them all about what she was doing spraying the water for them and got a millipede out for them to feel and hold wasn’t asked to. Can’t beat staff like that

User

Really enjoyed the teacher’s opening evening event tonight. The staff were great at explaining about all the different trips available related to the national curriculum. Such a lovely atmosphere all around the farm and it was obvious that all the staff love their job and the animals. It was a great insight as to just how hands on you get to be with the animals. I can’t wait to visit again(already planning on bringing my nieces and nephews) Thank-you for doing such a wonderful job showcasing the farm.

User

Really enjoyed cock fields farm today. The girls who worked there were great. As we entered Tasha who was on the till was lovely my older son told her it was my 2year olds birthday today. A couple of hours later we were sat in the cafe eating and she came over with a lovely cake and candle singing happy birthday!! Didn't expect it at all. She was also great with my little boy who was a bit soft when it came to touching the reptiles but Tasha was great . By the end of it he was even holding them! Great day i will be going back so much more now

User

I’ve visited cockfields farm a few times and had never been impressed... found it expensive for the price with not much to do.

This afternoon we decided to give it another shot and wow what a difference. The farm has been renovated and there is so much to do! Kids aged between 1-5 years old and none wanted to leave. Indoor area has mini role play village, there were activities on every half hour (we managed to catch meet the snake, goat racing, bathing the tortoises and meerkat feeding time but also saw bottle feeding, pets corner and mini keeper were on at other times). Lots of animals to feed and see and outdoor area was fab! Bouncy pillow, numerous play areas, sand and water, tunnels, swings, a forest school area with den building and big hunts.

We had a fab time and can’t wait to visit again soon on another sunny day. Thanks everyone!

User

I visited today with the foundation stage children from Mersey Drive Primary. And what an amazing time we all had. From start to finish, the staff are fantastic, very helpful and kind and the itinerary for the day was perfectly planned and delivered. All the animals are super friendly and the environment is extremely enriching for all primary school children. Finally what an awesome forest school. The children couldn’t get enough of all the exciting choices of exploration. Very highly recommended for school trips and family days out.

User

I came here with my nearly 3 year old, 3 month old and my sister. Cost us £15.95 to get in. We stayed 4 hours. My son held guinea pigs& rabbits, washed a tortoise and a pig alongside feeding all the animals and stroking the donkeys/pony. He had a whale of a time. A massive thank you to Tasha who really interacted with all the children and got them involved with everything. Really made a difference to my visit. Ill be back! Thank you once again

User

Had such a lovely day at the farm, our first time. My children (2 and 11) both enjoyed it. The animals are gorgeous, clearly looked after well. We held a snake and fed baby lambs with bottles, which was a highlight.

The farm wasn't too busy , we got to try out everything. The outdoor area is awesome, with bouncing pillow, play ground. Sand pit and forest school.

My daughter particularly enjoyed the cars in the garage and little pretend street with shop etc.

Staff were fab. Everywhere was really clean and tidy. We brought a picnic from home , lots of places to eat it.

We will be back - thank you

User

First time going today, went for a party which was great and not rushed like a lot of children's events I've been to. The staff were absolutely lovely, especially our party host who was a good laugh and great with the party games. The Farm is great with a little play area and the animals there was plenty for the kids to do. The animals are all well cared for and we were able to hold them and feed them which was so nice as other farms don't allow as much contact with them and definitely not such a variety. surpassed my expectations, Can't wait to go back very soon

User

Fantastic day out! The staff were amazing, they were all friendly, informative and helpful.

On behalf of my family who have travelled all the way from Australia, we wanted to thank one amazing member of staff called Natalie who went the extra mile for us and practically gave us a personal tour, you made it just the bit extra special, thank you so much x

We will definitely be visiting again

User

Been coming here for a few years and it is definitely better value for money now than it used to be. I love what has been done. The car park was full when we arrived (to be expected, dads go free on fathers day!!) but actually there was so much to do it didn't feel that busy at all. I love the little village and the park area and there were loads of animals to look at. We didn't buy food or drinks but the cafe looked clean and tidy. Lovely little afternoon out.

User

Absolutely loved today at the farm. Before school holidays so lovely and quiet, but also packed full of things going on. My 2 year old got to groom a rabbit, wash a pig, feed the ducks, hold a guinea pig and loads more. As well as playing on all the play areas. She had an amazing time. Special thanks to 2 girls Becky and Tasha I think their names are. (Lovely girl behind the counter and the sweet girl in charge of all the duck feeding, rabbit grooming etc) excellent with my little girl and very informative. Being an animal lover it was great to hear that they get the animals to keep for life and save animals too. thank you for being great and thanks for a fantastic day

User

Absolutely fantastic. My daughter loved meeting all the animals today. We visited a couple of months ago for the unicorn event which she really enjoyed.. Although today was brill we got there just as it opened and spent the morning with a lovely young girl (sorry cannot remember her name) who was very willing and attentive to show Gracie all the reptiles and other animals and explain what they do and there names and how old they was. Gracie even touched a shake which Is amazing as she wouldnt dare anywhere else we have been. Definitely be back for another visit.

User

Great day out with my twins, went during the week and was quiet so had lots of chance to pet the different animals.

Price had increased since my last visit but was worth it as the little ones had fun !!

Would like to see a little more choice of sandwiches for the little ones only choice was ham or cheese, but this is not a criticism, I’ve got fussy eaters.

Highly recommended and great young girl working with the animals

User

Very pricey and felt the animals were kept in really tiny spaces and barely fed. The more I’ve thought about it the more it upsets me, the reindeers and the red cow looked emaciated wished it wasn’t like that but as animal lovers we won’t be returning.

First time going today, went for a party which was great and not rushed like a lot of children's events I've been to. The staff were absolutely lovely, especially our party host who was a good laugh and great with the party games. The Farm is great with a little play area and the animals there was plenty for the kids to do. The animals are all well cared for and we were able to hold them and feed them which was so nice as other farms don't allow as much contact with them and definitely not such a variety. surpassed my expectations, Can't wait to go back very soon

Been coming here for a few years and it is definitely better value for money now than it used to be. I love what has been done. The car park was full when we arrived (to be expected, dads go free on fathers day!!) but actually there was so much to do it didn't feel that busy at all. I love the little village and the park area and there were loads of animals to look at. We didn't buy food or drinks but the cafe looked clean and tidy. Lovely little afternoon out.

Very pricey and felt the animals were kept in really tiny spaces and barely fed. The more I’ve thought about it the more it upsets me, the reindeers and the red cow looked emaciated wished it wasn’t like that but as animal lovers we won’t be returning.
