Cocktail Audio Pro X100 - How CD Ripping Is Done

..but who cares, vinyl sounds amazing ;)

No Background Conversion
The Mini X-9 converts digital audio in real-time (real time refers to the ripping speed as it occurs not the playing time of the album). Other similar devices use the background conversion method, which can literally halt the performance of your device if the conversion fails. Music can be played, imported, moved, exported and created without any hold-ups among your collection (using the Mini X-9). ... A 70 minute classical CD would be done in less than 6 minutes - with CD information embedded.

X100 is very stable and efficient. Makes your music handling easier. A must product for the modern day digital audio enjoyment. Works great with my Sonos and Roon account. Excellent technical support.

Just added the X-10 to my Sonos Wholehouse Audio system and it's amazing! Nearly 700 CDs now stored, organized, with cover art, and served up through the network.

Where has this little piece of audio magic been all my life!

Awesome device have no major problems so far .. Highly recomended

For years I've wanted a way to store all my music in one place in order to play it at a click of a button. The Cocktail Audio X10 is that piece of kit.

It's an expensive purchase but you're paying for quality. I bought the 1TB version and have had it for a few months now. Here's the good and bad for anyone whose on the fence:

Good:

• Does exactly what it says on the tin. All your music is stored and is easy to find and play at the touch of a button

• With the purchase of a dongle (more on this later) you can connect the Cocktail to your wifi network. I'd argue that this is essential in order to get the most out of it. This not only gives you access to literally thousands of online radio stations but also gives you the option to download important firmware updates. This also means that the hardware will identify 99.9% of CDS you try to rip.

• As for ripping CDs there are a variety of file types you can create. If you need the space a simple MP3 will do but if you don't want to lose the quality of a CD you can always opt for FLAC.

• if you connect your Cocktail to the Internet you can download album artwork for your albums to be displayed when your music is playing.

• If you (like me) dream of a full music system throughout your house like Sonos you'll be thrilled to know that Cocktail Audio is compatible with Sonos and others!

• For those albums that you want to edit the information for you can do it easily with the remote or even easier with a USB keyboard!

Bad:

• All those great features that you get online? Well you'll need a dongle... which comes separately! So when you're factoring what you need make sure you know that you'll need an additional £30 for that. To be fair it's a sound business strategy and is worth every penny. Unless you connect it via an Ethernet port of course.

• Although the system is wifi enabled, it's sadly not Bluetooth enabled.

• There are the odd frustrating bugs here and there. At one point I was half way through importing my music collection and suddenly my music was nowhere to be seen, simply the words 'Query Error'. As I had stupidly not backed everything up ( I know I know) I had to start from the very beginning. Make sure you back everything up.

• This one isn't Cocktail's fault but it's worth knowing that some albums from Warner Bros. Records simply won't rip on to the system. Bloody Warner Bros!

Simply though the pros far outweigh the cons. I've rediscovered music I haven't listened to in years and have freed some room in my house as my CDs are in the loft. Once you get used to how it works it is a truly essential purchase for any music fan.

After several trips back to the workshop the X10 is performing great,Internet radio is so clear. It's a great little machine.

User

Great concept but had it nearly a year and find it awkward to use, updated the firmware so I can use Spotify connect but the i-service option is frequently greyed out so unavailable.
