What a fantastic team serving great tasting home cooking food. Freshly made and tastes amazing. Friendly and helpful staff and the owner made welcome and makes the atmosphere of being there like you’re being at home. Love it. My favourite Indian restaurant for sure.

Went for my 30th birthday meal. Had paneer tikka masala dosa. Best Indian I've had! Great service and lovely atmosphere 5*

We were at the Coconut Lagoon last night for an evening meal. We were a group of 4 with two vegetarians and two carnivores!! We had a really superb meal and thoroughly enjoyed the evening. The staff are very friendly and helpful with advice on different dishes. We were made very welcome. It felt like old style genuine customer service. Excellent all round. I particularly liked the Cardamon beer. Really good restaurant for vegetarians and those wanting a quieter more relaxed atmosphere.

We went for a curry for the first time last , and we most definitely will be going back the food was amazing the waiter was very friendly and explained about the food we was ordering my husband said it’s the best curry he has ever had , if you love curry definitely give it a go

Visited here tonight with a couple of friends. Staff are friendly, and the food is excellent. I had Iddily Sambhar to start (not really a starter) - the iddily (rice dumplings) were and fluffy, and the sambhar and two chutneys were tasty. The Chole Bhatooray I had for main was even better - full of fresh flavours, and the breads were light and crispy. My friends had chicken dishes for main course, and no complaints.



I think this is becoming my favourite restaurant in York.

This is an absolute MUST ! For anyone wanting an authentic Indian meal.Tucked away about twenty walking minutes from York city centre.My friends and I were staying in a B & B just a few minutes walk away on Haxby Road and went in for our evening meal .The menu is extensive so something for all our tastes(me as a veggie) and both my diverse and decerning friends.It was a joy.The welcome was great ,service excellent and value for money too.I can't recommend highly enough.

The most authentic Indian restaurant in York. All dishes cooked from scratch by an exceptional chief. Also the only place where you can taste South Indian dishes not served anywhere else in York. Might be ideal for vegetarians who have not tried Indian delicacies such as Idly Dhosa and Uttapam. Highly recommended!

The ONLY place for a dosa in York. Genuine food, cooked in a traditional way with lovely staff too. I've spent my past 3 birthdays here.

Our most visited restaurant in York because it is just the better South Indian restaurant! Brings us back to our holidays in Kerala region each time we have a diner there!

It was our first time at The Coconut Lagoon a recommendation by The Tower Guest House as we were in York staying for the weekend. We would most certainly go back as the food was amazing and the service was spot on. I wasn't sure what to have and was steered in the right direction by one of the waiters. We would definitely recommend a trip to this restaurant.

Had a wonderful evening with my family at the Coconut Lagoon Restaurant and thoroughly enjoyed the scrumptious meal,especially Kadaai Chicken and Batura .Mango Lassi,my all time favourite tasted absolutely amazing and refreshing like never before.Excellent flavours and great servicing from staff members .

Great meal, highly recommended. Had never tried Southern Indian food but so glad I did. The flavours were amazing. Very good staff and very reasonably priced.

Booked in after reading a great review online and wasn't disappointed. We were seated by a young lady who was very welcoming and helpful and made an effort to ask about where we had come from and what we had planned in York. My partner wasn't sure what he wanted to eat so was given a great recommendation by the waiter. I had a vegetarian curry which was lovely and We both left stuffed and happy. A place everyone should go to eat!

Best place to have Indian food and tasty food within the walking distance from the York centre...

A young lad working at the York retail outlet told us about this lovely place...if you want southern Indian food and don't mind a bit of a walk from the main tourist area...this is an excellent place to go...the food was so tasty and the staff very attentive...thank you

We arrived without booking & they kindly found us a table . They were very busy. We had two lovely curries served efficiently by friendly staff. Excellent restaurant, thoroughly recommended. We’ll book next time!
