Without a doubt the best place for a bite to eat, the coffee, especially the gingerbread latte, is gorgeous. Me and my family have been going for quite a while now and I wouldn't go anywhere else now, great for mothers with babies, staff are lovely

Was lucky enough to win a prize on North East Foodies for two free breakfasts at Coffea Caban in Sunderland. Despite working in Sunderland for years Ive never ventured out for breakfast or lunch in the City Centre so didnt know what I was missing.

Now that I have discovered this little oasis of peace, tranquillity and the most amazing cakes it is going to be a battle to keep me away!

From walking through the door you immediately realise this is not your run of the mill cafe. The attention to detail and finishing touches are classy but understated and the coffee machine a masterpiece of engineering! There were several other customers, some in couples but also plenty of individuals just relaxing and enjoying browsing through papers and enjoying the food and range of beverages. I so need to try the bannana nut latte!!

We were there to try the breakfasts which were large, excellent quantity and delivered unbelievably quickly, with good strong coffee for me and a pot of tea for my partner in crime. The before and after photos demonstrate more than words how good the food was!

Sadly I was too full to try the amazing array of cakes but we did take a chocolate orange and fruit scone home for the boy and they disappeared in seconds so another thumbs up there. Terrific home cooking skills and so well presented.

The staff were lovely and friendly and not over attentive, I heard them chat with the regulars and the balance was just right, they also were really nice and supportive and encouraging when a young girl brought her CV in looking for work - a really friendly place to be and the surroundings made me smile and relax like I was in my own front room.

A great visit, a gem of a place, get yourselves down there and try it - but remember my table is the one closest to the coffee machine so leave me a seat!!

Nearly forgot four legged friends also welcome outside with a nice drinking bowl laid on to ensure their comfort too.

This is the best place to go in Sunderland for great home cooked food, excellent service and the most loveliest people you could ever meet. Mick and Sue the owners are lovely as is their son who works in the kitchen and their daughter who sometimes helps out. Melissa and Lynne who work out front are absolutely fantastic as is Paula who bakes and cooks the most loveliest food. For anyone who has not been then you need to go because you will love it!

User

Popped in for a coffee and a bite to eat. 2 coffees and a couple of sandwiches. A bit of a problem with our order not going through properly and we had finished our drinks before the food turned up. No biggy really but the staff were great, free coffee refills as an apology. Coffee and sandwiches were really good and from what other customers were saying everything else was good too.
