From around 2009 - 2013 the college ran more like a business than a college. The food was crazy expensive. I've also been a student at Milton Keynes College and Swindon College where the food was subsidise.

Dyslexia support was incredibly weak. If you are dyslexic your best choice is Swindon College they have an entire dedicated psychology team to help you get through your course.

To be completely honest in this review did work at the college and after leaving I became a student. I can't recommend Colchester Institute because of the food being so very, very expensive. I was saving a substantial amount of money by going into town to buy food which of course also isn't subsidised.

Colchester Institute needs to remember that it is a college and it needs to operate like one rather than a profit driven business, of course, this is no reflection on the teaching staff. They have appointed new principal since I was there and so hopefully thing have changed. My experience at the time was the college failed to understand the food should be of good quality but also affordable so people on student loans can eat; students don't want expensive restaurant quality that they can't afford. At the time the food was so expensive I would have classed it has a safeguarding failure.
