Great pub with excellent choice of ale. Food was good, especially the steak and ale pie. Me and friends attended the fireworks display kindly put on by the landlord. Really good atmosphere, I would highly recommend!

A little piece of heaven. Second time we have stayed. First time we stayed in the Annex in November 2016, absolutely fabulous - peaceful, clean, comfortable. Aug 2017 stayed in room 5 top floor back of hotel views up Cole dale where we walked the horseshoe. Again room very comfortable, clean and very quiet. Bathroom very small but more than adequate and it was new! Staff very helpful a.though very busy, great real ales! We ate in the bar - far more informal and relaxing, food wholesome, tasty, and plentyful with an excellent choice. Cooked breakfast very tasty and hot! Unable to fault this small delightful hidden gem, we will be back!

We have been a couple of times as we enjoy staying at Braithwaite. This is a great location to have a drink, especially after a long walk. We are yet to eat, or stay here, but we will be going back to before long.

We turned up on a busy Saturday night wanting some food but had not booked a table. After speaking to a member of staff we were found a table. The owner/manager was very helpful. Service was good and so was the food. A friendly pub that openly welcomes muddy boots and dogs. Great atmosphere And seemed very popular!

Welcoming bars, one dog friendly, one no dogs. Good on draft ales, and fresh food. Good food for non-vegans, but no options for dairy-less vegetarian food (vegan). For dairy intolerance, fish dishes can be served without dairy which is good however. Could be improved by making their 'vegetarian specials' fully vegan, it would not be difficult to eliminate dairy from them and include a lot more health and ethics focused customers.

Beer is great and food looked good. The main problem is that if you have a dog and it is darts night there tr are only 3 tables you can sit at and these can be reserved by non dog owners. We wanted food but despite most rooms been half empty we had to leave as 3 dog tables reserved. Perhaps they need 2 dog friendly rooms out of their 4 main bar rooms
