About Collier Street Fiction Group

. . . . a place for writers to improve their craft

Collier Street Fiction Group Description

About CSFG

We run a friendly, open and positive workshop where fiction writers can present their works-in-progress. Our focus is on constructive feedback and to provide a space where talented writers from a diverse range of backgrounds can deepen their understanding of fiction and help develop their craft.

The group is aimed at those with a publication history or those seriously pursuing publication.
Collier Street Fiction Group’s focus on quality, support and diversity, and it’s relationship with Tindal Street Fiction Group, the highly successfully Birmingham based group, make it a distinguished and unique collective.

We have a quick and easy application process, based not on who you are or where you’re from but on the quality of your work and participation in the group’s supportive culture. Essentially, we have a quality criteria for membership and as a democratic group look to see if we think we are the right fit for you. We usually meet bi-monthly at the Cubit Centre a 5 minute walk from both Kings Cross and Angel tube stations.

We are affiliated with Tindal Street Fiction Group, a successful Birmingham writers group as high proportion of it’s members have gone on to become published, with a number becoming award winning writers, including Gaynor Arnold and Clare Morrall both shortlisted for the Booker Prize. Tindal Street Fiction Group, was founded in 1983 and established through a written Constitution, notions of quality, equality and democracy. As an affiliated Group we have embedded these principles in our ethos.

Collier Street Fiction Group was initially set up by a few of us involved with Tindal, including, Anthony Cartwright, Betty Trask Award (The Afterglow), and Gul Y Davis Winner, J. B. Priestly Award for Young Writers (A Lone Walk). The reason for creating Collier Street Fiction Group was to offer the benefit we all received from Tindal to writers in London.
