Coltsford Mill Fishery

2nd day of members Big Fish. Pretty much the same as the 1st day with the fishing being a bit inconsistent with some fisherman bagging up pretty quick but with others struggling to catch the quoters but I suppose that's fishing but there was still plenty of fish court during the day. I think the wether played a part with sleet in the morning with a very cold wind but then the sun come out with lovely blue sky's and bright sun which definitely put the fish down deeper and the fish seemed to stop feeding for a while but I will say I saw plenty of fish lost due to the fish fighting so hard and I mean hard and I know as a whole the fish at Coltsford mill fight hard but some of the fish today were mental with fisherman having hooks straightened and fights lasting up to 30 minutes incredible for big fish.

First day of Members Big Fish It fished very well first thing with fish coming out from most swims but it definitely slowed down after a thew fish were caught but on the whole it fished ok and to be honest it was not the easiest day but some quality fish come out with at least 7 double-figure fish caught and plenty of fish around 7 to 8 pound landed so hopefully there will be a few more out tomorrow.

We will be closed this Saturday 13th April and Sunday 14th with our club competition big fish weekend and also we will be closed on Wednesday 17th April with a corporate day so sorry for any inconvenience. Also well done to Andy Parks on wining the trout masters fish off at Coltsford mill. We will keep you posted how well it has fished over big fish weekend but hopefully it will fish very well and to be honest were quite excited as there is some cracking fish have been put in so hopefully there be some very happy fishermen over the weekend and one last thing we are normally quite busy after the weekend so if you fancy fishing please could you let us know as we hate turning people away. A lovely evening at the fishery today with a Beautiful sunset and the fish were going mad all over the place.

The fishery will be closed this Sunday 31st March as we have our trout masters fish off at the fishery. Regarding how's it's fishing at the moment it's been a bit inconsistent with some days it's fishing so well that's it can be a bit to good with fish almost giving them selfs up but the last couple of days with the bright weather the fishing has been tricky with the fish feeding well first thing then seem to go off the feed until later in the day and today was a prime exampl...e with Mr Graham Tuck having 8 fish before 9am but then it went very quiet and seemed that every fish in the lakes had stopped feeding but then by 3pm mill lake went mad on road side with fish chasing white lures just sub surface so it just shows you that sometimes you have just have to stick at it and then lasts thing this evening I had a walk round mill lake and it was unbelievable how many fish were showing all over the lake with fish tacking something off the surface not to sure what but it was certainly spectacular to see them so actives so I had to record it. Also today we had our members tag fish court today by Richard so well done to him.

Today we had a club day the Standen cup and to be honest with heavy rain forecast the night before I was expecting the fishing was going to be tricky but I couldn't be more wrong with 15 anglers fishing this morning all on four fish tickets and every body was catching there fish with only one not catching there full quoter but he still managed to catch three out of his four but we did have a winner and well done to Mike Clements on winning with a total bag of 11lb 13oz so well done. We also have a corporate day this Wednesday 20th March so we will be closed all day so sorry for any inconvenience. Hope to see you soon at the fishery.

The fishing has continued to be pretty good with most anglers catching well. The usual gold head daddy's and small and large lures working well on a floating line. The water clarity is not the best with the amount of rain we have been having but the fish are now well used to it and the fish have been feeding well. Today we only had the one angler in and fear play to Dell Elliott he had to brave storm Gareth it was blowing a hooley but he braved the wind and ma...naged to catch 6 fish and and court out of all the lakes and he only had one fish under 3lb with the biggest weighing 4lb 12oz and all were court fishing on a bung with blood worm so well to Dell.

Just to let you know that the fishery will be closed this Sunday the 24th February until 1pm with a competition. Regarding the fishing it's fishing really well with almost every body catching there full quoters and also with the lovely weather we've been having and some settled weather the water has now cleared from all the rain we have had and the fish have been feeding really well in all the lakes and putting up some cracking fights so hope to see you soon at the fishery.

We had a club competition today the Jim jaycock shield and the fishing didn't let us down with very coloured water and very cold winds and wet weather the fishing was still very good with 18 fishermen fishing in today with only three fishermen not catching there four fish but there was a winner and well done to Spud and Bob and Chris on winning the shield with a winning bag of 30lb 10oz for 12 fish so well done to them. With more settled wether forecast next the lakes will clear quickly so the fishing should be very good next week.

Just a quick update what's happening at the fishery first thing we will be closed this Sunday 10th February till 1pm with a club competition and regarding the the fishery as a whole the fishing is still very good again with most anglers catching there full quoters but unfortunately with the amount of rain we've been having the lakes are very coloured especially Willow lake but the main lake mill doesn't seem to be as affected as much especially on the drive side of the lake w...ith plenty of fish coming out on that side of the lake and with most of the fish being caught quite high in the water with most anglers fishing a floating lines and mainly fishing with small lures and rubber leg daddies which seems to be doing the business for most people so let's hope that we have some dryer and some settled weather so we can have some nice clear water again. Another very good fishing week at the fishery with plenty of fish being court all over the lakes all week but we did have a couple of days with ice on mill lake but there was a few spots fishable on mill to fish and as normal they loved the icy conditions and the anglers who braved the cold conditions took fall advantage of the fish feeding really well. Today we had a club comparison on with Coltsford mill v Holland sports and well done to Coltsford mill on winning with a total bag of 73lb 11oz to 61lb 4oz and with the wether wanting to throw everything at them this morning i wouldn't blame them to all go home but fair play to them they stuck at it and they had a really good fishing day. It was another really good days fishing on Sunday when we had a club day with our club committee against other members and well done to the committee on winning the day with a total bag weight of 82lb 2oz to 59lb 7oz so well done to the committee on winning. As for the fishing has been very good with most anglers catching the quoters with predominantly fish coming out on mostly lures fished quite high in the water especially millpond and Willow and now the cascades have been deepened during the summer months we have found that intermediate lines have fish a lot better on the cascades as the fish seem to be a bit deeper as a whole also the water clarity is very good so the fish are putting up a very very hard fights and it's lovely to see anglers having great fun with fish giving them a such a hard fight.

It was a cracking days fishing at Coltsford mill today with a club competition Coltsford mill V Brick Farm trout fishery and well done to team Coltsford mill on winning today with a winning bag of 92lb 6oz with brick farms weight being 84lb 7oz it was a close run competition with 62 fish being court but really one fish deciding it with a cracking fish caught by Glenn Fleet who had a 7lb rainbow so well done to Glenn.

We had members Boxing Day brace today with 11 participants fishing and the fishing didn't let us down with all the fisherman catching there fish bar one but he missed loads of takes but we had a winner which was Bob Mortimer with a cracking bag of 8lb so well done to bob
