Went for the Harry Potter afternoon tea at the end of November. It was fantastic! The food was delicious and there was so much of it, the staff were friendly, and the background music and decorations added to the experience. I’ve been to other venues for themed afternoon teas (most recently a Beauty & the Beast one which was priced at almost triple the cost of this one at the Colwick) and this is the best one! Very satisfied and will definitely be returning

We only booked to stay a few hours before we arrived as a last minute get away, when we arrived a lovely young man on reception checked us in, my husband asked could we upgrade and he said yes no problem he would just have to check our room was ready, it was a lovely spacious room, with a nice view. We had an evening meal which was excellent the staff were lovely. Breakfast was good, with a nice selection of fresh fruit and all the other continental items you would expect, and hot food cooked to order. We had a lovely walk round the lake and the old church. We would have stayed a second night but unfortunately there was no availability.

We got married here on Sunday 25th February 2018. Thank you so much to everyone at Colwick Hall for everything you did to make our wedding day simply amazing! Birgit, Sam & Pramode - you were all fantastic at making everything seamless (if it wasn’t I didn’t know about it!!). Everyone thought the venue was amazing & the food was all delicious. We really couldn’t have asked for a better wedding day.

User

Truly magical experience today at your wizarding afternoon tea, my friend and I absolutely loved it. The food quality is amazing and we can't believe how full we feel, so we took our cakes away in a doggie bag. The atmosphere and setting is also so great and is very magical. Your staff today (sorry we didn't get your names) two lovely young ladies were very attentive and friendly, nothing was too much trouble. We Will definitely book another afternoon tea here in the future, can't recommended it enough.

User

Treated my mum and Nanna to a Grand afternoon tea, having travelled from near Chester to visit. They absolutely loved it, including the Halloween decorations for the themed tea. Wonderful, friendly service giving a warm atmosphere. Team were knowledgable and attentive and we left stuffed. My Nanna, who is a bit of an afternoon tea connoisseur has it top of her list, now.

User

The setting is beautiful. We had the Wizarding Afternoon Tea which was an absolute delight. The pea and mint soup was delicious, the pumpkin pasty warm and spicy (like a samosa) and the cakes looked great and tasted every bit as good as they looked. There was plenty of food. We ended up bringing some of our cakes Home to enjoy later, as we couldn’t manage it all!

The staff were great and got into character. Our daughter took her wand and an owl which drew several nice comments. I would highly recommend this experience for an Afternoon Tea with a twist.

User

Thank you to all staff at Colwick Hall for going above and beyond to make our day so perfect. We were married here on the 26th of April 2018. Pramod and Sam paid immense attention to detail and ensured all our wishes were met. We can't thank the staff enough for how friendly and tentative they were throughout the day.

User

Me and my now wife got married here two weeks ago. We had previously been here for my best mans wedding and loved their day, so when we came to talk about our day, Naomi who helped coordinate and sort our wedding out couldn't have been more accommodating. Nothing and I mean nothing was a problem from the moment we arrived to the moment we left everything was in place and ready to go. Pramod who was manager that day made sure we felt at ease and helped to make the whole day run smoothly. The staff who were on that day were absolutely amazing and we had the most memorable day anyone could ask for. I would highly recommend this venue for anyone to have their special day here. Thankyou to everyone involved and a special thankyou again to Naomi and Pramod for helping to make our day the best day of our lives. Thankyou

User

Just left after an overnight stay for my friends wedding...beautiful old and full of character building which is maintained highly, excellent helpful and pleasant staff, lovely food cooked and served to a very high standard, our room on the top floor was quite small but very clean and more than adequate, would definitely recommend

User

Had the opportunity to visit this simply stunning venue today and took full advantage of the Harry Potter themed afternoon tea. I asked Hanna, the lovely young lady who served us, to surprise me with her favourite tea - she chose well, delicious Apple and Caramel. The 'potion' was refreshing and the sandwiches and scones yummy. However we had no space for the cakes so our girls were very grateful to receive a doggy bag.

We were then shown around the venue by Selva. The restoration he has managed in the 15 years of ownership is near on perfect. My husband now knows where I want to spend our 30th wedding anniversary next year ;)

User

Colwick Hall was the venue for our wedding last Saturday 2nd December, and what a special day they made it! The ballroom setting is fantastic, the food was delicious and served piping hot and the organisation was faultless. Our bedroom was also huge and very nice. We honestly couldn't have wished for better. It's very rare I ever review places but they really deserve the few minutes it takes.

Best hotel in Nottingham, very clean and wonderful service.

After living in colwick hall as a young girl it was such an odd feeling walking into the hall I took my two daughters and one of my grandaughters for afternoon tea it was lovely the food great and the staff lovely they even let me have a look round it is lovely now when I lived there there was only one room open to the public that was the Byron room the rest of the place was very run down but as children we did have fun thank you for a lovely afternoon and a walk down memory lane xxx

User

My family went for the Harry Potter/wizarding afternoon tea and had a lovely afternoon. We particularly enjoyed the pea soup, pumpkin pasties, and the the delicious deserts, however I do agree with one of the other comments the snitch and the frog cakes were a little bit dry but it did nothing to spoil the afternoon, staff were pleasant , friendly and helpful it was a treat for myself and my daughters birthday and we both thoroughly enjoyed it so thank you very much!

User

Lovely Wizarding tea. Would have been great to take home a "Dobby box" for the leftovers. The bags provided wouldn't have saved the cheesecake! Would also have liked to have toured the hotel but jumped on by a very over zealous function assistant who wouldn't let us look round an empty room! Loved the hall of mirrors too. Great value ... We all enjoyed ourselves.

User

Had a lovely afternoon tea, almost perfect but few little things let it down. We booked Harry Potter afternoon tea but it was rebranded wizarding afternoon tea but we were not told this prior to attending so all the little Harry Potter names had been changed to more generic ones which was disappointing. Most of the food was delicious and there was plenty but 2 of the cakes were very dry and blend (the frog and snitch cakes) everything else was really yummy. Mostly staff were attentive and helpful but one male staff (who I was told was new) was not very friendly and when I asked for a cocktail was told to get it from the bar which no one else had to do and when I went to the bar was told to take a seat and it was brought to the table. Think he requires some more training as he wasn’t as bubbly and attentive as the rest of the staff. Beautiful surroundings and would still recommend but few little improvements needed to score 5/5

User

Beautiful place to stay. The staff are very helpful will be going back in the summer for another visit. Only lost a star for for the bedside lamp bulb had blown and the tv remote not working. All resolved by the time we got back from our evening meal.

Thank you colwick hall staff 👏

User

We went for the Harry Potter afternoon tea. The pea and mint soup and the scones were delicious. The tea was nice. The cheese wands were tasteless. The cupcake and the gold cake were dry. The sandwiches hardly had any filling. Half of the sandwich had filling and the other half of the sandwich was just butter. Not an experience I would do again.

User

Beautiful settings for a weddings, the attention to detail for the day was great. Bar Staff very friendly and shown great hospitality. The food for the sit down meal was of high standard- however the venue was let down by what can only be described as day light robbery. Wanting to change for children to stay in a family room! That's right addition cost for children to stay in a family room! The beds are not suitable and make shift, you wouldn't ask you dog to sleep on the springs! The reason for the charge I was informed due to breakfast! Well let's talk about breakfast- breakfast cut off is 9.30am, having enjoyed my brothers wedding the night before I Manager to get myself and my 2 children down for 9.05am. I was seated in the restaurant (may I add to a dirty, unset table) some family members already having there breakfast. The member of staff informed me it was a self service breakfast, I asked is there plenty of bacon! yes sir- well what followed can only be described as woeful customer service- the metal containers keeping the food warm were empty! When I asked if they will be re filled the member of staffed huffed and said I will ask. If u like bean and mushroom you could of lived like a king but nothing else to go with it! The member of staff returned to my table with a plate of bacon and a heap of scrambled egg- with a glow in his face he obviously thought this was funny bringing me a plate of bacon and egg! For what should of been a self service.Having a family of 4 and 1 plate I asked what would you like me to do with that! He walked away! This is no joke- RUDE service.

However the receptionist on duty was helpful when I approached her to explain my disbelief and this was all witnessed by family and friends. I was on time but the waiter was clearing away before any guest could eat. I'm still waiting a call from the duty manager for the restaurant it's only been a week!

My advise have your wedding but get your guest to stop elsewhere as it's over price with very poor standards.
