Hi all, apologies for the short notice but due to unforseen circumstances we won't be training tonight. We will be back to normal on Thursday before we a have short break for a week.

User

Tonight is looking to be a nice quiet session, ideal for beginners, people who are a bit nervous or unsure and anyone after 1-2-1 tuition. Feel free to pop along and join in from 6pm.

Serious cat is serious... Cats can't join us (no matter how much they advertise like this) but humans can. See you all later from 6pm onward ¤Ö魤滭¤ćĄ¤źŗ

No April fools jokes here but we do have an important announcement. As of today we can no longer offer the 25% discount we have since starting at The Hub. We've had to adjust our prices slightly but have kept a decent discount for monthly payment.
As of today our prices are as follows:
┬Ż6 per lesson
... ┬Ż22 for 4 lessons per month (4 weeks)
┬Ż40 for 8 lessons per month (4 weeks)
These prices are for 90 minutes of tuition in Japanese Jujitsu, which will teach you the traditional mix of Judo, Aikido, Karate, Weaponry, Ground work and more from a IFAOGB affiliated instructor.
It's not for everyone but at those prices it's worth a go!

Happy Mother's Day to all the strong mums out there teaching us right from wrong, raising us strong and putting us back in our place when we forget she's The Boss. The woman in the picture is The Boss from Metal Gear Solid 3, but she's also hard knock mother like so many others out there.

Another good lesson last night, 7 hard workers. And 3 new starters over the past few weeks! We're slowly growing... ¤źŗ¤ć»¤ćĄ¤æŖAnother good lesson last night, 7 hard workers. And 3 new starters over the past few weeks! We're slowly growing... ¤źŗ¤ć»¤ćĄ¤æŖ

After Thursday's intense and really high energy lesson this is well deserved ¤æŖ¤ć»¤ćĄ¤źŗ¤śü¤Ź”

Fantastic lesson last night! We didn't cover as many techniques as usual but the focus on our kicks and pad work was worth it, they were only basic kicks but you could see and hear just how effective they were. And you did a great workout with the double Tabata.
Welcome to John, our newest member. He's full of enthusiasm, encouragement and is happy to help. A great fit for our club like all of our students ¤æŖ¤ć»¤ćĄ¤żØ¤źŗ

Another fantastic review from a recent new member of our club! We're very proud of our students representing our club and supporting each other in this way.
It's not all about the physical challenge sometimes, everyone is welcome if they can benefit in any way from training with us. ¤ć»¤ćĄ¤ż£¤źŗ¤żØ

Well done guys and girls, we had a brilliant collaboration lesson last night. It was good to see you get stuck in and hear the compliments for you from the other instructors teaching you.
On Thursday we'll finish strong with North Devon Wing Chun Academy then next week back to full Jujitsu now I'm about 80% back to full health.
Keep up the good work, you're doing me proud. Also, welcome to John who joined us for his first lesson last night. ¤źŗ¤ć»¤ćĄ¤żØ¤ć¦¤ćĘ¤ć«¤ć▒¤æŖ¤”Č ¤Öé

We have another great session lined up for tonight. 4 instructors will be on the mat teaching Jujitsu, Judo, Aikido and Capoeira. It's something a bit different but an ideal taster session for anyone looking to try one or all of those arts. Bring a drink, enthusiasm and enjoy ¤Öé¤żØ¤æŖ¤ć»¤ćĄ¤ć¦¤ćĘ¤źŗ¤”Č
After us is Krav Maga with Mitch Simpson of Coshido Martial Arts, who stepped in to teach last week and taught a very enjoyable and effective lesson ¤ć«¤ć▒¤æŖ
Loving the unity and having each others back at The Hub. Riverside Judo Club, Sei-Shin-Kan Aikido, Edward Lane.

We're having a joint session tomorrow whilst my back and neck are healing. It's going to be interesting and we can all take something away from it. 4 instructors on the mat sharing knowledge and respect.

It's genuinely scary (and frustrating) to see this promoted so brazenly and monetized as a quick one size fits all approach. You can't condense years of knowledge, practise, theory, injuries, mental and physical experience into 5 days of training (or 1 year in some cases) and be considered an instructor.
Not everyone can be an instructor and no amount of money can change that. Not everyone can be pilots, doctors, chefs etc even with training... The same applies to martial art...s. You might be able to do the moves and even copy them well to a degree, but can you explain and instill that knowledge and technique into someone or truly understand what you are doing and showing?
PLEASE, don't fall for this kind of thing. Any instructor worth their salt would never sell you a black belt or chance to be an instructor. They put you in danger with their lack of knowledge (and lack of experience). If you take something up, it has to take time, teach you more than just turning up and doing moves and test whether you have what it takes in the long run.
We call these McDojos. Please don't buy into them.
P.S. I'm not the only one with first hand experience of GKR Karate and the business they operate.

Yep, all 3 of those things!

A huge thank you to Sensei Will Watts of Sei-Shin-Kan Aikido for stepping in for Sensei Steve tonight. Aikido is a vital component of Jujitsu and it's great to see it in its purer form. Only a few more lessons and Sensei Steve will be raring to go again ¤æŖ¤źŗ¤ć»¤ćĄ¤śŁ

Almost time ¤śā

User

Tonights lesson will be mostly covered by our very own Will Watts, he's an Aikido Sensei in his spare time so you're in safe hands . This lesson will be another good example of instructors working together and you getting time to focus on a different aspects of Jujitsu. Sensei Steve will still be there to keep an eye on you all though ¤śä
Straight after us is North Devon Wing Chun Academy with boxing and Wing Chun. Another great art and instructor here at The Hub. His name is Steve also, so he has to be good too ¤śē

A huge and most respectful thank you to Sensei Mitch Simpson from Coshido Martial Arts for running our class tonight. Not only did he drill our guys on some Shotokan and Wado Ryu Karate moves, he took time to explain and break it all down to show its relevance. After that a few Krav Maga moves were taught and the guys really enjoyed it (as you can see on 2 pics in particular ¤śä).
We already look forward to the other guest instructors lined up to teach while Sensei Steve recovers.
We're so glad to be part of The Hub when instructors display this level of unity and break down barriers. ¤æŖ¤źŗ¤ć»¤ćĄ
