Another bedroom made ‘useable’ in this extremely hot weather today. This customer had bought a split system from a friend who had had it for a while. We were asked to fit it and were delighted to give a quote for the installation.
Any work on an air conditioning unit by an unqualified engineer is an offence and carries very harsh penalties unless the company is registered with Refcom and the installing engineer has an f-gas qualification to carry out the work.
The system is then properly installed, tested and vacuumed and will perform as it should.

A really unusual setting for this weeks job - the Highlands of Scotland - Loch Rannoch - for Beverley Macnaughton. We were asked to install a heating solution (and cooling if ever required!) for her new home. Over the weekend we had the pleasure of installing two Mitsubishi Heavy Industries air conditioning split systems in a local Nursery. Very happy that we could meet the requirements of our customer and supply a Gloss Black indoor unit to match the kitchen cupboards and a White unit in the hallway. Both units run off of one outdoor unit to conform to building regs and between them these two units are keeping the whole (rather large) house warm.

Here at Comfort Zone Southern we are always looking for ways to make our installations better, neater and quicker, and we are proud to announce that we will no longer be brazing joints for the majority of connections but using a state of the art crimping machine. This means no flames are used in the process of jointing which makes a much neater and safer job especially in places like loft spaces and around skirting boards etc and in places where using flames would be hazardous.

People often ask me, if air conditioning/heat pumps will work in low temperatures. The answer is absolutely yes they will, if the outside temperature is low and humidity is high, the coils on the outdoor unit may get frosted over. When this happens the unit is sophisticated enough to defrost itself and carry on as normal.

With temperatures outside -4 C, and snow on the ground our own aircon system is maintaining our near all glass conservatory at 20 C with no problems whatsoever. We use our conservatory basically as a dining room now thanks to the heat pump / air conditioning system I installed. It gives more than enough heating and cooling to enable us to use it all year round. This old and tired aircon unit was sadly beyond repair. The customer decided to have a lovely new Carrier aircon unit with a WiFi option installed to keep his conservatory nice and warm in the winter months and cool in summer.
It was a hard day trying to squeeze down between the side of the conservatory and the boundary wall to fit the new trunking which looks nice and neat down to the new system.....along with some pruning which was well overdue to ensure sufficient airflow... over the condenser coils!
