Community House GY is a 100% operated and funded Volunteer Community Resource Centre in Great Yarmouth welcoming all with our "Open Door", "One Stop Shop", "Cup of Tea and a Chat" approach to community focused support. Whoever you are and what ever the problem we are here for you. . . . . . Our StoryResponding to community demand Community House GY was opened in November 2016 to help replace local services that had been lost to funding cut backs. Created with an established volunteer team behind us and with the support of health and social care professionals we were able to continue and expand those services that had been lost. In the first twelve months of operating Community House GY supported over 5, 500 centre visitors 100% funded and supported by our volunteer team. One of the unplanned successes of the Community House GY project has been its community reach. Our centre now supports clients from across Norfolk, Suffolk and neighbouring counties, creating a growing community network with over 36 supported projects spreading out across the counties. What makes this exceptionally special to us is that almost all of these project are now operated by those who once came to us in crisis or needing support. From Wheelchair Sports, to schemes tackling loneliness. All these well being services are only possible due to the resources of Community House GY and as these ripples expand across the counties we are able to see a community change on a huge scale, with huge thanks to all of the volunteers for making this possible.
