Sikandari Lamb
A dish full of delicious history, the Sikandari Lamb or Alexander’s Lamb goes back to the time when Alexander the Great captured the Indian King Porus in battle, around 300 BC. When asked how he wished to be treated in captivity, Porus replied ‘like a King’. Alexander released Porus and they became friends.
A special battlefield banquet was prepared to celebrate the new friendship. And this is where Sikandari Raan was first served. Sikander means conqueror, an epithet truly fitting for Alexander.

Unpretentious and amazing food!

Each mouthful provided the most satisfying taste explosion. Staff are really friendly and attentive and the owner was equally hands on with his hospitality.

I would highly recommend a visit to this lovely, bijou restaurant. Can't wait to go back!

The best place me and my wife have eaten. Worth the drive over from Huddersfield and in my opinion better then all places in and around the Huddersfield area. Staff was great to us and looked after us. 10/10 it was will be back

So... I came here on New Year's Eve, the food and service was epic, they gave me what we ordered and more. Couldn't fault it in any way. Everyone was polite they went through the menu so I knew what I was ordering... had a really good time. P.s the decore is so pretty :)

So far the best Steak in UK, specially with the provision of being Halal.

Amazing piece of meat and given all the due respect it deserved and melted in my mouth with that gentle kick of dijon mustard from the sauce.

Do not change my friend... ever.

Lovely chill atmosphere, attentive staff and lush food. A little pricey but well worth it. We'll be back!

Main: USDA prime corn fed sirloin for us both, cooked just how we liked

Excellent food. If you love steak then it's definitely worth visiting. Maybe the menu can offer non steak lovers a wider selection. All the dishes were a delight especially the prawns/chicken tempura and the chicken yakitori.

Cona has such a lovely atmosphere, the food is amazing and so is the service. Thoroughly

enjoyed the food and the dessert recommendation by the chef. Would definitely recommend it to people!

I am truly disappointed in the level of service received by Cona. Despite this being my first time visiting the restaurant, my experience did not match my initial expectations.

Having worked in retail, I believe customer service is key. We waited for one hour, despite having made a booking - and were given very limited options from the menu. It's similar to walking into a shop and only being able to choose certain items from the shelves.

I also did not appreciate disdainful comments from senior members of staff about how the food was 'worth the wait'. Nonetheless, the food was delicious. I hope you can take on the feedback provided to help improve the service. You serve great food which is very well-presented. But if the service isn't there to match, you're less likely to have returning customers.

Usually can’t fault cona, the food and customer service is always amazing. I’ve raved a lot about this place to people. Rang up on Sunday to book a table for 8 people for a birthday meal, told they would ring us back at 3.45 to let us know if they could accommodate us but wanted our order 45 minutes before we arrived.. which wasn’t going to happen because 4 of the people coming with us had never been before. So table booked for 4.30.. it was 4.33 & they rang to see where we were ( we wer around the corner ) when we answered some rude man in the background called us ‘the no show ups’ thinking we didn’t hear! So as we arrived we said the no show ups are here.. the men started smirking embarrassed thinking we didn’t hear their rude comment over the phone. Other 3 people weren’t there yet but yet again before we sat down we were again rushed & asked for our order then went on to tell us they hadn’t got some things on the menu left which we specifically stated over the phone the main things we would get.

The man who was talking to us had been so nice and polite the previous times but because we couldn’t give our order 45 minutes before & do what he wanted he soon turned rude & obnoxious & we walked away very disappointed. Took our custom else where & doubt we will be back.

I've been to Cona twice now for Sunday Lunch.

The first time was amazing! Starters were really flavoursome and the beef main course was some of the best beef I've eaten, although the portion size was rather small. The owner was very hospitable and offered us seconds and thirds because, and I'll quote "Our Sunday lunch is about feeding people, ask us for more food and we'll bring you as much as you want".

This hospitality was really refreshing and made me want to return.

And I did return, however I had a completely different experience.



The service was very rushed, it was as if they wanted to order, eat and get out as quickly as possible. The food in general wasn't as good as last time, apart from the shrimp tempura was pretty amazing. The dessert I asked for had run out, so I had to settle for an alternative.

The main thing that upset me was that I still felt hungry at the end of the mains. When I asked the waiter for seconds, he laughed in my face. When I mentioned what we were told last time, I was ignored.



I don't think I'll be returning to Cona any time soon.

We visited Cona after reading good reviews online. The food was a massive disappointment.



I ordered a lamb dish and my wife ordered squid ink spaghetti with prawns. My lamb was served rare and I really struggle to swallow rare meat. I wasn't asked how I wanted it cooked at the time of ordering. I asked a member of staff if she could ask the chef to make it well done. She came back and told me that they can't cook it 'well done' as it'll burn if they cook it any longer. I was absolutely surprised at her response and told her to take the food and dispose it as I could not eat it.



My wife's dish was served with goats cheese which was not specified on the menu. My wife does not eat cheese so she asked the waitress to get her a new dish without cheese. To my surprise the waitress said she could not replace the dish as 'this is how its served' even though we showed her the menu doesn't specify cheese. We returned this dish too.



At this point we asked for the manager and told him about our experience. He offered us free drinks and said 'maybe try a burger next time you come'. I couldn't tell if this guy was serious. I really expected a better response from a manager. We paid £40 for the 2 bites of food we ate and left in disappointment.



One things for sure, there is no next time and I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone.

He offered to close the door but mentioned it will get hot. We ordered some drinks and the glasses and water. Every single glass was dirty including the bottle of water. we complaint again and the server just shrugged. Really didn’t seem to care.



We paid for the drinks and walked out. Smell aside this is suppose to be a top restaurant there is really zero excuse for having dirty glasses and bottles. We didn’t even drink any drinks and ended up still paying for them says a lot about this place. Not one of the servers or managers even made an attempt to rectify the situation or apologise! Been a few times but never again.
