Lovely basic campsite. Stayed two nights, Tuesday and Wednesday. Great for lake access and walks. Sheep can be loud at night but it is farm territory so expected. Shame there is no soap and towels or dryers for hand washing. Showers fifty pence but a nice flow, not a trickle or annoying one that you have to keep pressing to keep it going.

Great location, could be first class with better management/investment. Oh, and bring cash!

Undoubtedly the site is in a fabulous location, with direct access to Coniston Water. So if you have a kayak/dinghy or love open water swimming and fancy exploring the south eastern lakes, you need look no further.

The site itself is very large. Enough to say I've never known people drive to the ablution block before! The toilet facilities themselves are ok; clean enough, just old and rustic. The 50p charge for showers is extremely disappointing considering the expensive camping fees. Bring enough cash to cover £9/4.50pppn. You'll also have to bring your own hand soap, as unbelievably the site doesn't provide any at all!

If there's been heavy rain recently and you want to camp somewhere pretty, you may wish to consider going elsewhere. On site drainage is terrible and the grass quickly becomes boggy and brown with free range vehicles, leaving it hard to find that perfect pitch despite the 'anywhere you like' policy.

There's enough to keep kids occupied though, despite no dedicated play facilities; trees and rope swings aplenty and a small stream should entertain younger ones easy enough.

All the site really needs is some loving and investment from owners who want to improve it and not rest on the lake's laurels.

Really good location and not that difficult to find.

Required £20 deposit per person on top of nightly fee as well as £10 deposit so be prepared with lots of cash. Quite noisy at night even though train deposits to stop this.

Pegs couldn't go that deeply into the ground as there was stone very close to the top.

It's a great spot coniston water on site. Short walk to village and great for walking with plenty of mountains to choose from . Friendly staff clean toilets and showers and choose your own pitch. Never had to book.

Lovely location and views. Nice flat campsite so easy to find a good spot. Shower block is super clean. Annoying that it's 50p for the shower- esp when it's not at the cheap end in the first place.

An unbeatable location for exploring Coniston and the surrounding areas and for water sports enthusiasts. Due to its perfect location between Coniston Water and Coniston Old Man the site can get pretty boggy during wet weather but the facilities were clean and tidy and the staff were very helpful.
This time of year is lambing season, so the sheep that are usually on the fells are in the fields next to, and sometimes inside the campsite which I thought was awesome!
If you want an early night it is best to ,pitch near the entrance and if you don't, or can't fit in there it seems to be a bit more lively the further in you go. Not the end of the world for me but it could be irritating if you don't like being near boisterous young groups but they are just noisy kids not armed robbers so nothing to really worry about. It says no Gazebos and no fires but both are fairly common sites but fires must be in a firepit.
I watched the farmer pull about 3 camper vans and a couple of different cars of the grass because they were bogged down in the mud, a rather helpful service!
Given how busy it was for a rainy Easter weekend I will have to plan my inevitable next trip there carefully, I imagine it must be packed in summer.
Highly recommended if you don't expect a perfectly manicured pitch, to be able to walk to the shower in flip flops or perfect weather. A well run site!

Stayed here a few times, it's a very big site with ample facilities. The setting next to the lake is pleasant and The Ship Inn is only a short walk away. Friendly staff too, and a little shop on site in case you've forgotten anything.
