User

been dying to try this place since it opened , i live nearby and pass it every day and it looks fabulous , anyway finally got to have breakfast there this morning with my daughter and we enjoyed it very much and will definitely re-visit, just one small criticism would be ,what do you do with your tea and coffee slops when you want to refill your cup ,

User

Went for breakfast with my mum and brother. All you can eat and a decent price too! The food was hot and fresh and nothing was too much trouble for the staff. Leah made sure that we had everything we wanted and couldn't have been more lovely! Looked at the evening menu and saw a couple of things I fancied so il be going back for dinner soon!

User

We have been today for the first time for my nephews birthday. 15 of us our table was ready at the time we booked for. Some of us picked from the menu and others from the Carvery when we went to the till they the member of staff was so polite and really happy to serve us. She also advised us if we wanted to all eat together it would be best waiting 15 mind before he people went and collected the carvery so by that time there food from the menu would be done. No one had any complaints with the food from the menu and every passed comments of how good the carvery was. We will all be returning. Thanks for a great night.

User

We are a regular at the cookhouse with us living so close by. We took our parents last night for food and drinks and we thoroughly enjoyed it all. It was very busy and had to wait for a table but we soon got seated. The carvery was, as always, delicious and the food my husband and father in law ordered was also thoroughly enjoyed, with 4 empty plates being left for the waitress to be collected. Shame you cannot book a table for a party less than 4. Maybe you should look into this with summer coming up! Will be back and would recommend xx

User

I visited for the first time on Easter Day. We didnā€™t have a table booked but fortunately we were seated straight away despite it being busy. The food was great and so was the service we received. The kids enjoyed the play area outside especially as Anna from Frozen was there! They loved their kids meal too with one child describing it as ā€œthe best meal theyā€™ve hadā€ ļæ½ We will definitely be returning, thank you x

User

Fab day today with friends, the sun was shining, the beer garden was full of people some dining some just having a drink but cool that it has an outdoor bar servicing it. I had steak & it was absolutely lovely, perfectly cooked. Hannah served us, top service. Back there tomorrow if it's a nice sunny day but just for drinks & the atmosphere of feeling like you are on holiday when the sun is shining

User

Booked a table for 10 people last night. When we arrived at 7.15 there were already two large parties there. It was busy but not overcrowded. Had heard bad reports of poor service and missing meals so heart sank a little. However everything was perfect. All the meals arrived together, no mix up between the starters and mains. The food was hot, tasty and plentiful. Plenty of bar staff serving some less experienced under the watchful eye of others. All was fine. The pub is very family orientated and I can imagine it to be very noisy and crowded at peak times but we had a lovely night and would go back again without hesitation. If you want a quieter meal go after 7.30.

User

Been seeing this place develop from the rose think they've done wonders looks really inviting from the outside tables and umbrellas out in the front will be great in the summer. Inside is very light and airey great family pub loads of people always in here of all ages haven't tried the food yet but seen the way it's presented and looks great has a nice country feel to the back of it with a door that folds open will be great on a hot summer's day leading onto the grassed garden with plenty of bench tables and a nice little area for the kids keeps them entertained. Overall a great addition to the area and just what is needed

User

As you come through the door on the right that should be for people who just want a drink the amount off people who come through the door lastnight and got told they is no tables last night was shocking am sat at a table that can sit 4 defiantly need a area for people who just want to drink will free up loads of table's.... Breakfast and roast are spot on

User

Went to tonight for first time we are local but decided to wait until it was a bit quieter but even on weds tea time it was really busy, however the carvery was lovely no queue all fresh the chef was just filling up so I guess we hit lucky the meats really nice,my son chose off main menu as didn't want a carvery his main arrived 30 mins after we ordered,he really enjoyed it despite wait... & my daughter loved ice cream station... good job maybe more staff on busing tables/meeting & greeting as when we arrived there was quite a few dirty tables but as soon as I mentioned to a staff member they cleaned it... all the staff we encountered were lovely.... I think it's going to be a great family eatery/pub we will certainly be back.

User

We went for a family lunch for the first time on Sunday. we went for the for the carvery.I have to say it was really good food lovely meat and the veg was nicely cooked and the gravy actually had a taste .We all thought it was lovely and puddings and cheese board were all very happy. We would go back again for sure .

User

This is not fine dining it's good pub food, so don't expect Raymond Blanc and don't look for Michelin Stars.

But if you want decent pub food on your doorstep this is the place. I like gourmet burgers but hate having to traipse into town to get them. I noticed a nearby table had just ordered what looked like the "Boss burger" - a double stack. It looked great but too much for me so I went for the Classic Cheese burger - a bit smaller Ā£8.95

It came on a glazed Brioche bun in a build your own configuration. So on the board it was served on came a load of pickles, coleslaw, salad and Relish - so great if you're choosie.

Burger was spot on. Juicy well seasoned and perfectly cooked. In fact I'm licking my lips as I think about it now. I'm glad I didn't go for the Boss burger, i wouldnt have finished it.

We went at 3.45, the place was full but we didn't queue to be seated. The missus had the carvery, again there was no queue and she said was really good.

Thing is with a Carvery - the best roast dinners are made at home and I don't think any carvery is going to beat that - but there's a lot to be said for eating out on a Sunday, so for a decent carvery there had to be plenty of choice of meat, veg, yorkies, and gravy, and it must be hot. Tick all those boxes and you've got a great Carvery. This place ticked all those boxes, and I couldn't believe how high some plates were piled with food.

The place was bright clean and inviting. It perhaps had some teething troubles when it first opened, but when we went, there was no sign of them. I'll be going again.

It's about this old pub had been brought back to life.

User

Couldn't really fault it. Anything was an improvement on the old sticky floors of the English Rose. Service was great, food was decent, starter (pate) was average though. Still early days but can only see it improving. Staff were warm and friendly and atmosphere was spot on. Looking forward to trying the beer garden when it gets warmer ļæ½

User

Went this morning for breakfast arrived at 11.00, all you can eat breakfast ... Well all you can eat if you're quick!! Food itself was ok sausages a bit over cooked but pleased they had fried bread and black pudding. Chose to have unlimited tea and coffee too. Other customers came in after us I'm assuming also for and all you can eat too. On the dot of 11.30 everything was taken away including tea and coffee facilities I had paid for unlimited and only got the chance to have one in the 20 minutes we were there others who came in later will have had less of a chance than me. I think at least you should try and leave the breakfast and drinks out until 12 to give us a fighting chance.

User

Went for breakfast.... bit dissappointed with plate collection over the bar..but? Food very nice but coffee left lot to be desired ..tasted like a flask of cheap instant... didnt want to top up... furthermore UHT mik? Won't be back for breakfast in a hurry....which is disappointing as would love to be supporting local ventures!!!

User

I went with my son for breakfast last week, that was nice and staff were friendly. Went for dinner yesterday with wife son and sister. Sister ordered steak and ribs asked for steak medium and it was well done , tough and she struggled cutting it with knife , asked for it to be changed and they brought back a new plate of chips with ribs. 3 times i asked for manager , when he finally turned up he just seemed like he wasn't arsed . In the end he knocked Ā£2 off the bill (wow) had no customer skills at all . When food turned up it was just warm. the burger was tiny, bun it came on was big, carvery was nice . Needs a manager there who knows how to talk to people and not act like they are a inconvenience , at the end of the day paying customers will determine wether this place makes it or not.

User

Been looking forward to this place opening so today we finally got round to going. Decor is lovely, really warm and inviting. 2 ordered from the carvery and 4 of us from the main menu. I ordered a Caesar salad with chicken and it came in a wooden crate lined with paper!! Far too much dressing and I couldnā€™t tell if I was eating cheese or paper. Gave up half way through. The carvery wasnā€™t to good and it wasnā€™t just us who thought so either. Dessert wasnā€™t worth the Ā£5.75 either. Donā€™t think Iā€™ll be rushing back which is a shame because itā€™s local.

User

Went here with my girlfriend tonight for a carvery and Iā€™m not going to lie I was expecting a lot more the food tasted like it had been there since it opened and the lighting in there was terrible felt like I was eating in a cave. I would never go back also the ā€˜largeā€™ drinks were not noticeably different from the small ones.

User

I attended yesterday for family meal which was very disapointed in my dad got roast couldnt even eat the potatos as they was hard and full fat as grease was pouring out!! Worst carvary ever and i ordered stir fry which had no flavour and chicken was burnt and had no taste! Wont be returning for food
