Cooking For Health Description

Plants not pills - that's my motto.

My name is Jane Philpott MA (Oxon), MSc, PhD. I am passionate about teaching, writing and helping others to create better health with a plant-based diet.

I eat only plants but this has not always been the case.

At one time, I did almost everything in the book that you are not supposed to. I burnt out. I became ill. Not seriously, but ill enough to realise that if I carried on the way I was it would end in tears.

I sought help from some remarkable teachers and healers and gradually, I transitioned to a plant-based diet and a healthier way of living.

Even though I trained and have worked as a scientist for over 30 years and have all sorts of academic qualifications, I teach from the heart and from personal experience.

I understand the difficulties of changing behaviour and of learning new skills. I know what it is like to work full-time, to have family members who are fussy eaters, to have to prepare meals in a hurry and on a budget.

I know what it is like not to be perfect, even though you want to be.

And yes, in case you're wondering, I do sometimes eat chips and chocolate, though I usually feel rubbish afterwards.

Over the last 10 years, I have learnt that even simple changes to diet and lifestyle can lead to significant improvements in the way you feel.

Even more exciting, though, is recent scientific evidence which shows that not only can you prevent disease with the right food choices, you can also treat it.
