The company was founded in 2009 as an online fire safety training portal providing cost effective fire safety training to small and medium enterprises across the UK and was originally called Online Fire Safety Training Ltd (OFST). Its initial focus was the delivery of basic fire safety training and fire warden training courses. The business has seen continued growth and development and widened its products and services. It now specialises in fire safety consultancy to a diverse range of commercial and residential clients, as such the original business name no longer adequately represents the company's strong fire safety consultancy background. In 2020, Cooper Reed was born and OFST was renamed and rebranded to better reflect the current business. Low cost should not be the main driver for fire risk assessments or consultancy services, quality and competence should drive the decision-making process. Cooper Reed has focused on two key aspects, 1. Consultant Competence and 2. High quality products and services. We believe 3rd party accreditation to be highly important for professional fire risk assessors; the events of Grenfell and subsequent investigations and changes to legislation only cemented this belief. Ensuring professional fire risk assessors i. e. those charging for their services, can demonstrate competence must become mandatory in our opinion. The business took the decision to only employ and work with consultants who can demonstrate a commitment to fire safety and can demonstrate high levels of competence through 3rd party accreditation.
