Watched the netball yesterday, great venue, however we were up in the balcony and we couldn’t see the screen as there was some ceiling construction in the way, so only people who have a great view of the courts can see the screen as well. Also there was only one score board and we couldn’t see that either as it was on the wrong side. The score on the screen was too small so we didn’t have a clue what it was. Other than that we have a great time

User

There is an on going theme Copper Box:

● Great Venue

● Food - leaves a lot to be desired in choice/accessibility/provision

Although it was my first time there, I was advised re not taking food in, and was fully prepared to purchase there.

Ok. Not a wide range of choices as have been said in previous reviews, but to wait at position 10 in a queue for hot dogs for over 25 mins and only get to position 4 before abandoning my position in the queue is ABYSMAL!

Only 1 person serving ie making up each order as it was placed was just ...... words fail me.

By the time I made it back to my seat, I heard that they were and had run out of food (about 1:30pm ish) at some of the concession stands.

This is for an event (Jaffa Super 6s Finals) which started at 10:30-10:45am and finished after 6pm.

Please also take into consideration that there were a lot of children there and as a sporting event we should be promoting healthy eating.

Come on Copper Box......SORT IT OUT!

User

Organisation to get people into the arena was abysmal. No coordinated effort by security.

No prior notice of not being able to take own food or beverages into the arena.

Food choices once inside were diabolical!

Taking the food people have brought with them off of them ridiculous!!

Obviously not aware if how the UK Netballing fraternity make it a family occasion!

EN get a grip of the Copper box!!!

Nothing to do or anywhere to go at the arena prior to being let in. How about a marquee with an area to have pre match entertainment??

The Netball as always TOP NOTCH!

Treat us right we are loyal...

Treat us badly.....suffer our wrath!!!

User

Agree about food options. As no food and drink is permitted it is not a case of take it or leave it it's a case of no option. Could be a bit healthier as it is a sports venue. Burgers etc next to sponsors like vitality don't really go together. However there is always two sides to a story and there is probably good reason why these choices have been made.

Loved the netball but hated the booing.... very unsporting.... Seemed to be aimed at the umpires...where is your discipline Netballers!!

User

Venue was great but food choices were absolutely disgraceful, not allowed to bring you’re own food or drink in and even if you do it has to be thrown in the bin at the entrance. You can by drinks inside the arena but if you buy a bottle they remove the lid and won’t let you have it which was strange so you end up nursing it.

User

Unfortunately the components GLL & organisation do not go together & they dare to call themselves Better.

Volunteered at several events there. Great Venue for spectating but sooo many problems on catering side. As a volunteer took ages to find where to get water bottles refilled & customers were initially queueing at food outlets putting extra pressure on food (for want if a better word) outlets.

The food we got as volunteers was served in the downstairs cafe & was good but not so for spectators who were limited to the busy pop up units. The siting of the venue also precludes popping out to nearby alternatives although now have a few options on the canal behind Hear East.

Wonder how William & Kate fared yesterday but guess it was just a flying visit.

The Aquatics Centre is not any “better” big GLL failures there too

User

So seems to be a common theme here. As a sporting Venue it’s great. HOWEVER ....Food and drink choices and availability awful. We spent ages in queue for a tiny cup of tea. They ran out of many things before the 2 nd match had even started.

***Access to arena was awful. It Was tipping it down with rain so as early arrivals we had all formed an orderly queue under cover with late comers happily continuing that queue around. We had arrived early as I’m on crutches (I have multiple sclerosis). They then opened one door only and created a ‘free for all’ dash to the door despite the fact I’d arrived early due to crutches to avoid this. When we approached security to ask if I could be let in (we pointed out how we had all be in queue and they then let it become a mad dash) they were reluctant to allow me to bypass the now newly formed queue. They spent 5-10 mins shouting for person in charge to come and decide)making me stand for even longer on my crutches now in open rain) Meanwhile other spectators waiting were stepping back saying ‘come in front of us’

Come on copper box staff. Use your common sense. I’m not normally one for getting on my soap box - but might be worth having a re-read of the Equality act 2010. Be mindful of disability. Don’t make days out harder for those who find it hard already..... very disappointed. Luckily the netball was Amazing!!

User

Security and queuing were a joke for starters, no signs or instructions for entrance A or B. Queued for nearly an hr in the rain to get in.

Poor options for food and drink but other than that its a nice little venue with a good view from the upper tier

User

Lovely venue but food options are shockingly bad. You can’t take your own food in but all that is on offer is: hotdog, burger, nachos with cheese that smells, popcorn, crisps and candy floss. When you arrive at 2.30pm and last match finishes just before 8pm, this is poor and a pathetic choice in comparison to any other venue I’ve been to. Would like to see more choice or let us take our own in.

User

Lovely venue but as you weren’t allowed to take your own food in you expected to have at least the cafe open but it wasn’t. We were there from 8.30am to 10pm The only thing they had was drinks, sandwiches, burgers and hotdogs at £5 each but not good for someone with IBS who can’t eat bread. Was starving all day other than that a lovely venue and staff polite

User

I’ve watched netball here twice and, from a sporting point of view, the venue is excellent. However, as others have said, you cannot take your own food/drink in with you and the choices available for sale inside the venue are limited, unhealthy and predictably expensive. If the Copper Box is going to continue to host England internationals, with an audience of young girls in attendance, this needs to be addressed.

User

I’m just echoing what almost everybody else has commented, great venue for the World Cup of table tennis, but food and drink truly awful, long queues, restocking poor, sludge-like coffee, £5 hot dog advertised as the best in the world, it was a tasteless roll with a pathetically thin and totally bland frankfurter. If you’re there all day, as I was for three days, you either take a mortgage out and buy their rubbish, or starve, as you can’t take in your own food. Is this even legal? Great event, spoiled by the food situation, sad.

User

Great venue - food offer appalling and considering how long the event ant the known ticket sales you would have thought someone would pick up on it! Especially as visitors were told specifically they wouldn’t be allowed to take their own food and drink in. Every time I go to an official event in this country it doesn’t even compare to European offers!

User

Congratulations England Hockey on booking a great venue. Shame on the Copper Box for your contempt of your customers. To ban people from taking own food is one thing but to then make it almost impossible for those people to buy food on site is an insult! 30-40 minute queues to find shocking “fast” food which ran out by lunch time is unacceptable especially when the gap between games was only 20-30 minutes. Looking back at other comments this is a problem that is repeated on many occasions so appears you will not learn, so maybe EH need to look for another venue that welcomes their guests.

User

Attended the Jaffa Super 6’s indoor hockey on the 28th January. The venue is very intimate and the view from our seats was exceptional. No doubt that it is a great facility in that sense.

However, that said, we were forced to miss ALOT of the hockey by having to queue for food and drink for an unacceptable period of time, over and over again. Standing in one queue for 20 minutes, we reached the counter salivating, only to be greeted with the dreaded words, “we only have nachos left”, (this being before the main games had even started). At this point we had to sacrifice one of the finals matches and walk all the way to Westfield shopping centre to find food, which is utterly ridiculous, but the only feasible option given that we would have brought food in with us if that was allowed in the first place. Thoroughly unimpressed.

Thus, on the whole, we paid £28.50 each for a ticket and did not get to see the hockey we wanted to see! I’m sorry but it needs improving dramatically, otherwise I hope that the event returns to Wembley next year.

User

The table tennis was amazing but the venue is not well organised. Considering this was an Olympic venue I expected more. Everyone else has commented on the food availability. I read on the website that there was a cafe that served soup and sandwiches. However, when we arrived on Saturday it was closed because of a private function. No mention of this on their website. Inside the venue I expected options but was exceedingly disappointed. Burgers and nachos. Nothing for the health conscious and nothing for my requirement as glutan free.

Now I know why it only opens 1 hour before your event starts...there is nothing to do, but get to your seat. They could make this venue amazing but it would need a management change, to people who listened to these reviews....there are plenty of people complaining about the food....get it sorted, no excuse.

User

Here for the Jaffa Super 6s indoor hockey final. Great event and venue to watch the hockey in but all day event 10-6 and it’s 2pm and they’ve run out of food. Not allowed to bring your own food in and the options they did have were shocking, burgers, hot dogs or nachos, no healthy alternatives. England Hockey consider holding it elsewhere next year...

User

Great venue for holding the super 6s hockey and had excellent seating.

However waiting 40 minutes for a drink, missing most of one of the hockey games due to lack of staff is unacceptable. Need more staff on tills to cope with the amount of people. Genuinely felt bad for the staff on hand as the lack of organisation is not their fault. Also heard copper box ran out of food at lunchtime which didn't please many people.

Either arrange more staff on food stands or allow people to take food and drink in next time.

User

The food choices at this venue are absolutely shocking. Three choices, nachos, burger, hotdog. Plenty of booze too! This is a sporting venue. We are totally missing the point if we think it’s okay to serve junk food at a sports event. This is something that desperately needs looking at.

User
