We always stay at the Copthorne when we fly from Gatwick, it's a great start to our holiday and a part that we look forward to each year.

The staff were fantastic and sorted out a room booking issue by upgrading us.

Many thanks to Lucian Lefter on the front desk who was so helpful and went out of his way to ensure that we had a good experience and were happy customers.

This is about our 8th stay here and we highly recommend it, it's a great start to our holidays and we will definitely be back again.

Many thanks to all the wonderful staff

We alway stay here when we have an early flight from Gatwick and we have never been dissapointed. The rooms are great, the food is excellent and the staff are brilliant.

I joked with one of the staff that the next night we would be in the Grand Millennium Al Wahda in Abu Dhabi and that it wouldn't be as nice as our Bostonian Suite. We are there now and it was just as good as this so thank you.

Stayed overnight before flying out on holiday, was our 2nd stay as enjoyed the first last year. This time not disappointed either, clean comfortable room. Had a lovely meal in the pub in the evening, recommend the Heidi pie, absolutely delicious. Good breakfast, cooked well and hot. Will certainly be staying again

User

Fantastic hotel !! Stayed for one night before flying from Gatwick airport, best thing we did, the holiday started from the moment we walked in. The room was very clean and had everything needed. The breakfast was superb and the staff were more than helpful.l would not hesitate to stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone. Thank you

We have stayed here several times as it's a great hotel to stay pretty flight and park .

The receptionist was rather frosty yesterday but apart from that we had a great stay . The formal restaurant is amazing and represents great value . The food is exceptional and the lady chef should be a contender for master chef she is amazing . We will return .

User

Great room, very helpful staff, a comprehensive gym and a good food&drinks selection. Roaring fire at the pub are just a bonus, what else?!

User

Four of us went for the afternoon tea and massage offer it was excellent. Would definitely recommend it for a treat or present.

User

Came here for a training course absolutely lovely place and the catering was delicious as well as the coffee and biscuits. The o my downfall was the lady on reception who a few of my training colleagues found had the same experience that she was very rude and didn't look up

Nothing over the top with this hotel. The building itself and the grounds are very beautiful. The staff at check in were curtious and helpful. The rooms were small, and as many reviews I had read reported, very warm! We had the air on all night and the temperature never changed. Being on the ground floor we didn't particularly enjoy having to open our windows because they were "locked" with a piece of rope and about 3 feet above the ground. But we had no choice since the room was too stuffy to comfortably sleep. I will say if you have your own vehicle it is less than 4miles to LGW south terminal, so very convenient.

User

No water bottles in rooms - apparently being a four star still requires you to be in a club room for free bottle of water. Internet is non existent, various small damaged things in room, no control over heating in room so leaving the window open and hearing noises is the only option, bed is very soft and small causing awful "roll together", no green tea or hot chocolate available in room, room service pizza is awful. On a positive note it's very clean, staff are like lovely, gym is good, and parking is priced ok. But seriously it's our anniversary and they were notified and nothing.

User

Lovely place to stay if flying from Gatwick , rooms clean and nicely decorated ... beds way to soft for me but will do for 1 night.

Only bugbear is the pub , bit pricey I. The drinks and food!! We were starving and they had no pies & no peas!! Had to go down the road for dinner.

We were placed at the hotel by BA staff due to our flight being cancelled, the hotel itself is beautiful and very clean, however the staff did not go the extra mile at all.We were given a food voucher and told that this could only be used in the buffet bar despite us asking if we paid extra could we choose from another menu as the buffet bar only had two choices. One person in our group had an allergy so could not eat from the buffet bar and was offered a meal from another bar, we were told the rest of the group could not pay extra to choose their food from another bar as they could not facilitate this and would then have to offer this option to everyone else too ( despite the hotel would have made more money from us); a waiter then dropped a whole tray of drinks over one member of our group, the poor waiter was mortified, but word got out and the rest of the staff came to take a look and have a laugh, no apology offered!! Later in another bar we asked to order an Irish coffee but was told no because the bar tender had just cleaned the coffee machine despite the bar remaining open for a further hour after our request. To summarise, a beautiful hotel that could have made money from our group of 6 by allowing us to pay extra to eat what we required rather than the two choices we were offered, also there was no replenished food so whilst I was lucky enough to get the last 4 new potatoes with my beef stew, the remainder of our group had to make do with just the stew ( with the exception of the person with the allergy) the downside is the staff were not willing to go the extra mile at all & we felt like an inconvenience to the staff

Stayed over just last night as I was attending some training who my work had paid for and firstly they advised they only had me down as bed and breakfast so I had to send the email showing dinner was included. Took them ages to review this and decide i was correct and that dinner was also paid for. Room service was non existent as I spent around 6 minutes calling to order myself a sandwich at around 4.30pm to which I gave up as no one answered so I went down there and had to wait another five minutes to be served and then took it up to my room myself. Rooms are nice, very old looking in terms of the low beams but I like that look. Rooms could do with air conditioning but mine luckily had a fan I could use in this heat. Could do with more power sockets without having to undo everything and perhaps toothpaste as it had everything else but overall the rooms were nice but moving forward I think they could be improved on. Customer service in the brasserie was great, however was probably a little over priced for the quality of it. I still enjoyed it though! Did not leave a good impression when I heard from the only other two people on the course who stayed at same location also had really bad experiences which involved them trying to make them pay twice as could not find it on their system when they had already paid and the other was told for two hours could not order a burger as they was too busy due to the two coaches of Germans that had booked in 🙈 Surely you know how many are booked in and prepared for that volume. Cleaners do not get enough recognition they were great with directions on a couple of occasions and ever so polite. Let's hope if work book me here again it will be a better experience 😬

The location for this hotel makes it ideal for commuting to and from Gatwick airport, which was the reason for my stay. We arrived late on a week day, stayed the night. And then left the car for a week before staying a second night upon return. Unfortunately, upon our return we noticed that not only had the paintwork on our car was freshly scratched whilst it was being moved around the carpark.. (unlikely a ‘carpark dent’ as it’s a horizontal scratch across the drivers side rear door) But even more of a concern was the fact that £10.00 in change had been STOLEN from the centre console of the vehicle! This is a great shame as the hotel itself along with the grounds were lovely, and the rooms were nice and clean etc (apart from the paper thin walls.) Sadly I will not be returning to the Copthorne London Gatwick hotel, nor will I recommend to my friends and family.

User

The hotel itself is lovely but the staff are so miserable and really unhelpful! We stayed recently and I was really unhappy with the service. From the address in the email confirmation sending us to the wrong hotel to the staff standing around having a chat while we stood at the bar waiting for ages to then be told “oh we like to take our time” and everything in between! The service there is shocking. I’ve since sent two feedback emails complaining and haven’t had a response... considering the standard of service in the hotel I’m not really surprised I’ve not heard back!

User

Old, dated, smelly, dirty, food cold and not fit enough to feed a street rat. The staff could not organize a simple task. Good luck to anyone starting here, I didn’t choose this place was put here by airline. I would never choose here, be warned it’s a health risk.

User

Hot water, scolding.

Towel rail, on all night

A/C not working, not good on the hottest day of the year

Room stunk of stale cigarettes

Cold ham sandwich in thick cut bloomer bread with a side of crisps and salad ordered at the bar turned out to be ham toasty in cut bread, no crisps all for the bargain price of over £7. Complained to bar staff and just got a shrug of the shoulders. Complained on messenger, I did get a reply but no action. You couldn’t pay me to stay there again, oh, and the fried eggs at breakfast would be better suited as squash balls

Having made a reservation for my partner - on her birthday as a treat - and my 18 month daughter, we were all excited to be staying here & looking forward to the use of the pool as my daughter loves to swim and this was the main reason we choose this hotel over others. However we were extremely disappointed to find out upon checking in that the pool was closed! We were not made aware of this when making the reservation, with no one bothering to inform us. We then had the inconvenience of having to cancel our stay and made a further reservation at the Sandman Signature Hotel a few miles down the road which also had a pool and was open. The duty manager told us a full refund would be issued within 3-5 working days, we are now 7 working days passed and after multiple phone calls am still yet to receive a refund, in fact I have even phoned for 6 or 7th time an hour ago and was told someone would definitely be contacting me within 5 minutes to resolve this issue... well guess what no has!! Utter incompetence has been shown by the administration and accounts department at this hotel and they have shown me as a would be guest nothing but contempt. Incredibly poor service and even more so as operating in the hospitality industry!

User

Dreadful we have stayed here a lot over the years but never again! We did a fly park as we have done numerous times. Our flight was not due back until midnight, so we booked a extra night and checked this on our original arrival a week prior. On return we had to wait 15 minutes (reception empty) to be told we didn’t have a booking. We were then told if we wanted to stay it was a extra £50.00 we had to wait a further 20 minutes for the very unhelpful receptionist-to sort a key and a room. For a customer who supports you regular very disappointing and not the way to get return Busness (not that they care reading other reviews) !!!!!oh and if you want to make a 70s movie you would not have to do anything to the rooms
