November 2018 marked 100 years since the end of the Great War and throughout the country we have witnessed many different ways of commemorating the passing of the event.
A group of our Year 8 children embarked upon an enrichment project with Miss Jones, inspired by Mr Swinney's humanities homework, which would eventually culminate in a permanent commemorative display in the school grounds in memory of the last 100 years and the many years of remembrance ahead of us.
A special place was chosen, situated at the main entrance of the school and sheltered beneath a cherry tree for all to see.

What a wonderful day! KS2 sports day has been eventful and successful with lots of personal bests beaten! Thank you to all of our parents and carers for joining us and supporting the children.

Well done to the 59 Year 5 children who successfully completed the National Standard Bikeability level 1 or 2 course last week. As a school, we have offered cycle training to our Year 5 children for the past 9 years + and we believe it is an important life skill. The National Standard exists to help people of different ages and abilities make independent cycle journeys.

Our Year 7s had a STEAMtastic time at the Northumbria Water Innovation Festival held at Newcastle Racecourse. The three classes each did a different workshop. 7BL were given a challenge to build the strongest bridge in 'Geordie Bridges', 7BP learned about Skills for Success and 7WT went on a 'Mission to Mars' and programmed a robot. We then all got a chance to meet some real scientists and engineers. The pupils asked lots of questions - there are so many different careers to chose from even just in the water industry!

Year 8 enjoyed their morning - water fun on the school field as a treat!

An enthusiastic bunch of pupils took to the wild and rolling hills of Northumberland today to participate in an Orienteering Competition. A splendid effort by everyone and a new course record was set by Jacob, Charlie and Adam. Resilience, team work and a desire to be the ‘best they can be’ were the order of the day. We couldn't have asked for more from everyone at ‘Team Corbridge Middle School’.

We are so proud of every one of our Year 6 pupils. The SAT results are here and we are delighted! The pupils will be bringing a letter home tonight so that you can see how your child got on. We can't emphasise enough how impressed we are with how hard they have worked and how hard they have tried. Well done everyone!

Year 5 bikeability starts on Tuesday 9th July 2019. Please can Year 5 who are participating bring their bicycle and helmet as well as a comfortable pair of footwear e.g. trainiers to school on Tuesday morning. We will store all bicycles in the school hall throughout the week!

The Corbridge Middle School Water Explorer Fashion Show and Swap Shop 2019 was a big success. The Y5 club members worked together to put on an incredibly entertaining afternoon of fun fashion with an environmental message. The afternoon started with a drama production of why it takes over 2,000 litres of fresh water to make a tee-shirt from growing the cotton, processing the fibres, weaving and washing the fabic, dying the tee-shirt and distribution. Then we had several model...s strutting their stuff on the catwalk with quick changes in between each 'collection'. Imogen and Hannah from Year 7 provided the commentary describing each look there was lots of applause. The highlight were Lottie and Lucille in upcycled skirts using crisp packet decorations and Harris tweed remnants respectively.
After the Show we allowed all the pupils to chose something 'new' to take away from the Swap Shop - all of the items found a new home - saving a staggering 200,000 litres of water compared to buying them new. A tremendous show with an important message to Reduce the number of new clothes we buy, to Recycle any clothes we no longer use and to Upcycle anything we can in new ways.
The points we gained from the show and swap shop took Corbridge Middle School to the top of the leader board.
