Today White watch Corby attended a car fire on the A14 whilst providing fire cover at Rothwell. This was a blown turbo involved in fire, and crews used a hose reel to extinguish and provided scene safety.

Last night White watch Corby attended a fire in a flat in the town. Both Corby appliances attended and 2 breathing apparatus wearers used a hose reel to extinguish the fire. A positive pressure ventilation fan was used to clear the smoke. The incident was treated as accidental.

Last night White watch Corby attended 2 incidents. Firstly we attended one of the residential care homes in the town for the alarm sounding. This was fumes from cooking. The second incident was in the early hours and was a multi vehicle road traffic collision in Kettering. Along with our colleagues from White watch Kettering and East Midlands Ambulance service one Male adult was successfully extricated from a vehicle and the area made safe.

On Saturday evening White watch Corby attended 3 deliberate fires in the town at various locations. These fires involved refuse and waste wood. We also assisted our colleagues from East Midlands ambulance service with the safe removal of a casualty from a property.

Yesterday crews from White watch Corby were practicing their water rescue techniques at the white water centre in Northampton. This type of training helps crews when deploying our High volume pumps, and also allows us to work safely in flood water. #notjustfires.

Last night White watch Corby attended a caravan fire. Gas bottles and electric were isolated and 2 breathing apparatus wearers with a hose reel were used to extinguish the fire.

Today White watch Corby attended 2 incidents. Firstly we were called to a commercial premise with a smell of smoke in the building. This was found to be burnt toast which set the fire alarm off. The second was a call from our colleagues at East Midland ambulance service to assist with a 69 year old gentleman who had broke his hip and was stuck in a bedroom on the 1st floor of his property. Fire crews used a basket stretcher from our aerial rescue platform to help carry the gentleman to the ambulance.

Today White watch Corby attended 3 incidents. The first was a potential chemical leak from fridges at Waitrose in Oundle. This was a failure of the cooling system on the fridges and was non hazardous. Both appliances from Corby attended. The second was a kitchen fire where a faulty kettle caused a small fire in a kitchen. 2 breathing apparatus wearers used a hose reel to extinguish and a thermal imaging camera was used. The third was a car fire. 2 breathing apparatus was used with a hose reel to extinguish the fire.

Yesterday Corby fire station along with many other stations were called to a large fire in Kettering. At its height there were 10 pumping appliances and an aerial appliance, plus our welfare pod and command support vehicle. Crews worked quickly in very difficult conditions to bring the fire under control and to stop it spreading to adjoining buildings.

White watch Corby along with colleagues from all around Northamptonshire are still continuing to tackle a large blaze at Sywell Northampton. Here are a few pictures from the incident which has taken 15 appliances.

Today at 11am at Corby fire station we will be remembering all our fallen brothers and sisters around the world that have sacrificed their lives to keep others safe. All serving and retired fire fighters are welcome.

Last night White watch Corby continued with our training with our probationary fire fighters. This time we used Kettering fire house in smokey and dark conditions. This is what it looks like looking through one of our thermal imaging cameras.
