I was thinking of renting a place near a bus stop and was a bit worried it might be noisy but one of their office staff assured me they had never received any noise complaints about that property.

When I got there the flat was the noisiest place I have ever stayed (apart from a couple of dodgy hotels in India and Mexico). The owner's archaic oil central heating & hot water boiler was on full blast (in July/August!) every single day from 7am-10am and 4pm-11pm. The gurgling and banging it made, sometimes it sounded like it was about to explode! Not the faintest bit relaxing. A complete nightmare holiday, not improved by the eccentric behaviour of the owners. Really, really depressing.

When I wrote CH an email afterwards pointing out all the problems with the flat they didn't even reply (twice) so I wrote to the English tourist board. Eventually I got a stroppy email from Cornish Horizons, essentially blaming the owners. Admittedly the owners were pretty strange, but it certainly wasn't their fault CH's office lied to me.

If you read the descriptions of their properties closely you'll see that quite a few include rather odd statements. I suspect they are the go-to firm for problem properties, whether it be difficult access, noise, odd owners, overlooking or whatever.

Do not rent from them. There are plenty of decent firms in the area: CRW, Harbour Holidays, Cornish Seaview Cottages, Raintree House, Yellow Sands, Ocean Blue and many decent independently managed flats and cottages.

We have now used Cornish Horizons for the last three years for our holiday in Cornwall and have booked for another Summer next Summer except we have now booked for two weeks.

We stay at Trenarlett Farm each time and the booking is well handled and efficiently confirmed.

I highly recommend booking with Cornish Horizons, you will not be disappointed.

We have for the last five years booked a house near St Merryan through Cornish Horizons. All our contact with them has been excellent and we have had no problems whatsoever. From the staff on the phone, to their paperwork and website, their service is first class. I can thoroughly recommend them.
