About Coronafriend

CoronaFriend is a new project launched to ensure that nobody is left vulnerable by self-isolation. By bringing together a network of local volunteers, we can drive support and pinpoint locations where help is still needed. The CoronaFriend project has been designed and built in response to the Covid-19 (coronavirus) pandemic, and the implementation of self-isolation. Although self-isolation is a key step in combatting the spread of this highly contagious virus, it has caused a lot of anxiety amongst vulnerable groups such as the elderly or those with underlying health issues. Causes of anxiety range from contracting the virus, to buying food and medicine, to simple loneliness. Over the past few weeks, many heart-warming stories have been reported of neighbours and local communities coming together to offer support to those who need it. The CoronaFriend project has been built to help further this, allowing people to: 1. log on to www. coronafriend.com2. claim their street3. download a ready-made leaflet to print off4. post them through their neighbours' letterboxes, offering support and kindnessBy bringing structure to these local initiatives, we at CoronaFriend, have developed a way of coordinating these altruistic community acts. Through a network of volunteers claiming their streets, people can see clearly where help is still needed. Volunteers can print off our ready-made leaflets to drop through their neighbours' doors and cover areas that need help. As essential as it is to reduce the spread of the virus, it is also imperative that we do everything we can to combat the spread of fear, anxiety and loneliness that this pandemic produces.
