Joy was born in Bishop Auckland and returned 13 years ago to bring up her family here. She is passionate about the town and its people and she wants to do all she can to restore its reputation as a thriving and prosperous market town.

Throughout all the debates and discussions at planning and licensing committees, Joy stood up for Bishop Auckland and firmly backed plans that will help secure the towns future and millions of pounds of private investment.

However, she knows more needs to be done to ensure that this initial investment positively changes the lives of local people, revitalises the retail and business community and helps fulfil Bishop Auckland’s economic potential as a major regional tourist destination.
