My own way of working is relational; helping individuals to make sense of his or her life and world.
It has been suggested that in order for a person to be emotionally healthy, he or she must maintain fulfilling and satisfying relationships with those around him or her, and primarily have a satisfying relationship with the self. Facilitating a safe and positive relationship in the security of the therapeutic environment, aids a person to gain a stronger sense of self, confidence and become empowered with the skills necessary to 'recognise' and create productive and healthy relationships. Every area of social and cultural relevance is considered when working in this type of environment, including race, gender, class, and sexual orientation. By building a therapeutic alliance with the client I strive to address any past and present relationship impressions that have served to create discord in the present life circumstances of the client.

I also use cognitive behavioural therapy and motivational interviewing, with an awareness of triggers and goals. This type of theoretical style is useful when working in addictions, chronic illness or for a problem solving, or goal focus.
