I'm currently watching this on Netflix #heal. After working almost solely with Trauma clients for the last 18 months I do kinda believe it. Its basically about the power of the mind and its repercussions on our health and its benefits when recovering from physical illnesses. I know my fellow Counselling colleagues will probably agree that our physical health takes a hit from working with Trauma clients week in week out. I'm talking about chronic/somatic conditions or food intolerances for example. There maybe some truth #intrigued

I've been following a lot of the research recently on the benefits of Gut Health on our Mental Health. We know Somatic ailments such as IBS for example are hugely impacted when we are stressed or are affected by Trauma and anxiety. But Research is now suggesting that Gut Health can improve our mood / depression. It's a topic I'm interested in learning more about.

I have spent lots of time this week working with children's anxiety & low self-esteem. It's astonishing really how young children experience such feelings. These books are currently reduced to £3 in The Works at the moment. And they are great for parents too, who need a little bit of a starting point!

I use these a lot in my day to day practice. Soothe boxes can be used with Children, Teens and Adults. They can be filled with luxuries, fidget/stress relieving gadgets, snacks, photos, quotes, affirmations etc. but my fave is grounding technique and self-care flashcards. For example, a breathing technique.
