This is in my opinion a hidden gem. The staff were welcoming and the place has a nice atmosphere. A good time was had.

Relaxed atmosphere. Great choice of food. Well cooked and presented. Attentive friendly service. Good cocktails as well!

It was a pleasure to have breakfast and Dinner at Counter. I think, they have the best coffee around Vauxhall and the pancakes made my day. Don't miss to have a drink at the bar, they've an amazing selection of cocktails.

I can say the food is very good!! The staff very friendly and the restaurant is very cosy. I enjoyed a lot the decor and the environment.

Great food and great service. My family's first visit to London and this was truly the best place we went. Pancakes and banana stuffed French toast were delicious.

Apple and fennel soup was lovely, as was the OH's asparagus with ham.

I then had steak, chips and salad- yes basic, but the sirloin was as good as any I've had in a long time. Husband had the tagliatelle, which was delicious.

Used to be amazing...recently just feels like the waiting staff don't care, and food is not as good as it used to be. Feels like it's trying to hard whilst forgetting about service.

Ok house and beer sitting at the bar is£15 ...it ok not the best wine in world ...better wine around for the same price. No choice of beers ...the other half says it ok (we are sitting at the bar now no back music )

Visited tonight for lady diamond show and that was the only bright spot. The service was very slow and unorganised, our mains eventually came but were cold and without our ordered sides. Really was let down

Pleasant staff, food variable. I ordered the duck confit and cassoulet and when it arrived it was like they'd forgotten the duck altogether - just a (very tasty) cassoulet. This was removed from the bill when we complained. Staff very pleasant. Some of the other meals looked a bit like they had been plated hours earlier waiting to be warmed up to order. A bit of a mixed experience to be honest.

Disappointed by our experience at Counter today. We work close by and get the train from Vauxhall so should be regular customers but find the atmosphere from staff cold and unsure. While individual wait staff can be nice it is rarely a friendly welcome or attitude. Today we were presented with a card declaring a drinks Happy Hour on the table. Most of the prices printed were the same as on the main drinks menu, with no explanation on the card of what the Happy Hour deal actually was. I asked the new waitress who confirmed it was just whatever the till said it was. I asked for clarity and tried to explain they were the same as on the main menu so not really a deal. She said it would come up half price so I ordered a glass of prosecco at £6.50 printed, assuming it would actually be £3.25. A few mins later I was brought a glass of prosecco and told actually that one wasn't included in the happy hour and it was a misprint. The manager also made sure to come over and tell me this. Minor misprint and my fault actually, and deal with it, was the attitude. No apology for the misprint, no offer of giving it to me as sold or offering if I wanted something else. Even the waitress agreed with me once the manager had left. At the end it all we got charged 12.5% for 4 drinks and only £1 off a pint in the "Happy Hour deal". Terrible customer service, won't be going back. What a shame as should really be our work local. Will stick to The Kennington!
