Cowburn 2017 - Moving Forward Together

My name is Philip Gordon Cowburn and I'm running for President.

The Student Law Society at any university is one of the Social and Professional cornerstones of the Student Lawyer's experience. As your President, I will make the Law Society here at the University of Derby an organisation that we can all be proud to be a part of. I will operate an accessible and equitable society that's sole purpose will be to benefit its membership. I will run a society that sits in an environment that I will mould - working with the Law School and other partner organisations, using links that my team and I have already formed, to better every member that places their trust and faith in us.

On my first day in office, I will do the following;

- I will instruct the Vice President to begin designing a recruitment strategy for the Freshers Fair.

- I will instruct the Treasurer to complete a full review of the Societies financial position, with a view to assessing the feasibility of large-scale trips, events and contracts.

- I will instruct the Secretary and the Communications Officer to design a method to keep the membership informed of the societies activities.

- I will instruct the Social Secretary to plan a Diary of Events and fully organise the first Society Welcome Social Event.

- I will instruct the Careers Officer to continue Networking with law firms, chambers and recruiters in order to begin to plan the first Networking event.

- I will Instruct the Mooting Officer to plan the first Public Speaking Introduction Session.

As your President, I will push the society into new frontiers, I will work together with my team to make the University of Derby Law Society the best it can be and I will serve you, the membership, to the best of my ability.
