Craft Forward is a Community Interest Company based in Lambeth (London) that provides accessible creative experiences in the form of workshops, group making sessions, talks and events. We want anyone who would like to connect to their creative side to do so without feeling out of place or not experienced enough. We facilitate social safe spaces within our interactive sessions, utilizing simple materials and traditional creative processes to introduce you not only to a new way of crafting, but also to a group of fellow creative individuals that will be making with you. It's important to create together and to create collectively, redesigning a more inclusive art world and going back to ways of working that are rooted in simplicity, comprehensiveness and accessibility. We think of arts and crafts as smaller, valuable actions that contribute to the community's wellbeing and that can tackle bigger social issues; we are big fans of "slow-making and slow-thinking", focusing on the importance of making by hand, of taking your own time with your thoughts and ideas, and going against fast, capitalist structures of production and artmaking. We provide a variety of workshops utilizing a range of different media, such as knitting and crocheting, collage, publication making, creative writing. The workshops are suitable for beginners hesitant to approach arts and crafts and for more experienced makers that are tired of the elitism and exclusivity that characterize contemporary arts. Arts and crafts are for everyone, and we would love for you to come out from one of our workshops with more confidence in your artistic and social skills.
