Attendance/absence At 94% our Campus attendance could be much better! Our aim is for 100%. If your child is unwell then you need to call the school and inform us first thing in the morning. All absences are recorded as unauthorised until you contact the school. Please ensure that non-urgent medical appointments are booked outside of school hours. Secondary pupils will receive a same day break detention if they are late without a valid reason. Our attendance policy can be found on our website here. https://www.cranbrookeducationcampus.org. uk/…/attendance-p…/

PTA Update Our annual summer disco was again a great success and the children loved every minute of it. Thank you to Annie’s Balloon’s for the donated display which was amazing.
The PTA would like to say a massive Thank you to all the parents. You have all supported us with our various events over the last 12 months. The PTA would not work if we did not have your continued support. Our next meeting is on the 12th September at 6pm in Conference room 1 and everyone is welcome ...to join our amazing team.
Have a lovely summer and we will see you in the next term. Kindest Regards from all of the CEC PTA Members.

Safe cycling/scooting and bikeability courses over the summer A reminder that all pupils who cycle and scoot to and from the Campus should be following our cycling and scooting guidance which can be found here: https://www.cranbrookeducationcampus.org. uk/…/Cycling-_-Sco… We expect our pupils to: • Ride sensibly and safely and to follow the Highway Code. • Check that their bicycle/scooter is roadworthy regularly.... • To consider the needs of others when cycling/scooting and behave in a positive manner. • Ensure they can be seen by other road users, by using bicycle/scooter lights and wearing high-visibility clothing, as appropriate. • Dismount on arrival at the school site. • Wear a cycle/scooter helmet correctly • Lock their bicycle/scooter securely and store their cycle/scooter helmet in the correct place For the well-being of our pupils, we expect parents and carers to: • Encourage their child to develop their competence and confidence in cycling/scooting. • Provide their child with the appropriate safety equipment such as high-visibility clothing, bicycle lights and well-fitting cycle/scooter helmets. • Ensure that the cycles/scooters ridden to school are roadworthy and regularly maintained. • Provide a lock to secure their child’s bicycle or scooter. • Investigate and agree a safe route to school with their child.

Buddy Bench Ecobrick Project A few of our local parents and Cranbrook residents are undergoing an amazing project to build a buddy bench at the campus using locally made eco-bricks. They need your support! What is an Ecobrick? An Ecobrick is a reusable building block created by packing clean and dry used plastic into a plastic bottle to a set density. Ecobricks enable us to take personal responsibility for our plastic. For more information on Ecobricks you can go to www.ecobr...icks.org There is a facebook group, ‘CEC Eco-brick Group’ to help coordinate and inform members on the correct Ecobricking procedure etc. The group needs more participants to help make bottles in order to get this project off the ground. Any help, even if it’s one bottle per family could make all the difference. Also, any spare (clean & intact) 500 ml bottles with lids, can be donated into the reception to help participating members. Any help is greatly received!

Mobile Phone Ban in the Secondary Phase From September, we have taken the decision to ban the use of mobile phones during the school day for all secondary pupils. Once arriving on the school site, we expect pupils to have their phones switched off and put away until the end of the day. Any phone use will be at the teacher’s discretion, for example accessing an App for learning; using a timer or listening to music during an extended piece of written work. We hope to improve ou...r pupil’s mental health by increasing their opportunities for social interactions at break and lunch, rather than pupils spending time on a screen. We also want to decrease the opportunities for cyber-bullying. The Library and Chrome Books will still be available for pupils wanting to access ICT to complete supervised homework or revision at break and lunch. The first time pupils are seen using a phone without permission, the device will be confiscated and handed to the Inclusion Room for the pupil to collect at the end of day. After the second occasion, it will be handed to Reception for parents/carers to collect. We appreciate your support with our decision; please get in touch with any further questions that you might have.

KS1 (Reception & Year 1) Drop off and Pick up
Dear parents/carers
Thank you for your on-going support with the new drop off and pick up arrangements. If you are collecting a KS1 pupil (current reception and Year 1) can you please stand in an orderly line for your child’s class to ensure children can be collected efficiently when they come out with their teacher. We will be closing the bike shed located in the KS1 drop off/pick up area so you will need to use the two bike shed...s as you enter the Campus for bikes and scooters moving forward.
Kind Regards
Mr Stephen Farmer Head of Campus
