Join the Museum of Ordinary People (MOOP) for an evening of performances at the Crawley Museum
The award-winning Museum of Ordinary People (MOOP) is coming to Crawley for a special evening, where three of its exhibits about real people’s lives will be reimagined into “live” performances. MOOP is a Brighton-based pop-up museum that works with people who have collections of objects they’ve held onto – things like diaries, photos, documents, belongings, found items – that they h...ave an emotional connection to, and that they feel tell someone’s story. For Clair, it was a bag of diaries found at a car boot sale, their pages eerily paralleling her own life. Clair worked with MOOP to create “The Diaries of Mary Booth”, an exhibit for the Museum of Ordinary People (MOOP) at the Brighton Fringe, which he has turned into one of the live performances you’ll see at MOOP: STORIES Crawley. At MOOP: STORIES, enjoy these powerful, original performances and find out more from participants Clair, Catherine and Clara about what it’s like to make a museum exhibit about a real person’s life.
MOOP STORIES: Crawley Thursday March 19th, 6.30pm-9pm Crawley Museum Free to attend - please reserve your ticket via Eventbrite: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/moop-stories -crawley-tickets-9… Voluntary donations via Eventbrite and on the evening Visit museumofordinarypeople.com

Crawley's Collection Revealed:
Does anyone know what this is? This is a ceramic ball mill and was used to mill chemicals and minerals into fine powders. This one came from Pascall Engineering Company Limited right here in Crawley! Know more about how these were used or know someone who worked at Pascall? Let us know in the comments!

Lovely day last Saturday at the Museum. We welcomed Lucy and Petra from LPK Learning CIC and lots of local families who identified mystery objects, told stories, shared memories and wrote labels for us. Part of our new #CrawleysCollectionsRevealed project (funded by Arts Council England). Once the new display case arrives we'll be putting their work out for everyone to see. Watch this space!!
