Creative Couture

Creative Couture specialises in high quality bespoke period and vintage costumes, wedding gowns, corsetry and made-to-measure clothing.

Judy, the proprietor of creative Couture, is a seamstress with over 40 years of dressmaking experience. She trained in fashion, design and pattern cutting at Stafford College of Art & Design.
Judy’s repertoire includes bridal gowns, historically accurate costume and corsets. She has always had an interest in historical costume and in 1985 was employed as a costume maker at St. John’s Museum, Warwick on an MSC project. This led to many costume commissions including work for the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust, Compton Verney Art Gallery and Museum, Tutbury Castle and Living History Scotland.
Over the past 3 years Judy has added a collection of Vintage costumes from the 1900s to the 1980s. Her teaching experience and the availability of costumes to view and handle have led to the introduction of talks for schools and other community organisations.
Judy is passionate about attention to detail, whether it’s the intricate beading on a bridal gown or hand painting a Tudor costume.
