Brighton based company, founder Clare Grotefeld artist, designer, fabricator With over 23 years experience in the TV, Film and Theatre industry.

I am a practicing Artist living and working in Brighton. I have a studio /Work shop in Brighton and I am part of the OKO collective artists.
I am a very creative professional and I use my creative know how to produce and fabricate all sorts of projects.
I am skilled in all materials and I trained originally as a blacksmith welder.

I have over 20 years experience in film, tv and theatre. as a professional special effects technician /Prop maker /Model maker for Theatre, films and Television. I have worked for SFX and Prop /making companies and various Film studios;
Pinewood, Shepperton, three mills, as well as theatres such as The Royal opera house, Glyndebourne Opera house, Theatre Royal Brighton and The Royal Albert Hall. I have completed many private commissions for The Tussauds Group, The British council and Shakespeare's Globe I have worked for Neil Corbould sfx. (Bond) The Skoda Fabia cake car for which I was involved in the making and appear in the advert.
In 2006 I was an engineer in the tv series 'Beat the ancestors'.

I have worked at Pinewood Studios, as a Special effects Technician and Prop maker.

Duties include liaising with Directors, Producers, Designers, Designing and making props / Models. Creating design solutions. Problem solving within a creative environment. Working in a self motivated way or within a team. Giving 100% commitment to achieving the desired production successfully, contributing technical advice to team members and colleagues, applying skills and knowledge through providing /making /buying appropriate props /materials etc to dress and build sets. To work from scale drawings, plans, Designs, verbal ideas and interpret and improvise where necessary. I have a thorough knowledge and understanding of workshop practices, Good working knowledge of COSHH / health and safety procedures in and a round the workshop. Experienced and confident in the use of tools, power tools and heavy machinery.

Sourcing Props, weapons, armour, and materials through known contacts and researching new companies and suppliers. The production of weapons and props made in house using Royal opera House Armoury workshop and equipment, made to the specified requirement of Designers, producers, directors etc, with a sharp eye on the correct style and historical accuracy of the props. Working to Ques during live performances. Maintaining, loading and firing weapons for Ques. Maintenance of all Guns, equipment and costumes for the Royal opera house armoury.

Casual Crew /Dressereporting to technical manager. Get ins /get outs, Ques, Scene changes. Set construction. Working closely with principal Artists. Assisting in Wardrobe and maintenance and repair of costumes.
