Creative Machine Embroidery Surrey Description
My name is Elaine Thompson and I have been teaching machine embroidery for many years, including City and Guilds embroidery and design courses. You can find information about me on www. machineembroidery.org. uk.
The courses I run at the moment are held at St. Peter’s School in Merrow, where I use their Textile Department on alternate Saturday mornings during the autumn and spring terms. We look at all kinds of machine embroidery you can produce with an ordinary sewing machine, and there is quite a lot!
Hand embroidery can look wonderful, but it’s slow and time is something most of us don’t have these days. Using your sewing machine you can make and machine applique surfaces, construct a wide range of fabrics to make into bags, cushions, etc. , and work both delicate and heavy free machine surfaces for hangings, panels and even garments. We also include printing and fabric colouring workshops during the courses.
The workshops are run as a course of five or six, three-hour sessions, and all levels work very happily together.
