With only 4 weeks of angling time to go the fishing window is beginning to get smaller but there is still time to get some of the larger specimens out on the bank when they come on to feed which is hopefully anytime soon as there was one upper twenty out over the weekend. Although the bag sizes are not huge there are still some catches being landed being mostly tempted by boilies. The fish are certainly very active and there are patches of red mud cloud...s clearly visible on several days this past week. Smaller hook sizes and also smaller baits seem to be getting the attention of the fish and definitely feeding up a swim before fishing it is recommended. Water temperatures remain good, luckily we have not had any frost to pull it down so it does remain a good time to fish. There have been some singles and low double figure commons out this week, no reports of mirrors or green tench. Heaviest catch this past week 28lbs 8oz was by North Devon angler Kyle Groves. The Bideford angler chose to fish on the left hand bank settling into the swim adjacent to the old boat house. After feeding up his swim he cast a scopex boillie which is what took the specimen common’s fancy on the day. (Pictured)

The season ends Tuesday 1st January at 11pm so still just over 4 weeks of angling time left to hopefully get a bend in the rods. The majority of the trees have shed their leaves surrounding the lake now as winter approaches. Water temperatures however are not too low as we have only had one recent ground frost which has definitely encouraged the fish to be mobile. There have been bags of up to 8 fish recently by Ivybridge angler Gary Bowen. His all common carp bag amounte...d to 127lbs of fish and was topped by largest specimen of the fortnight which is pictured below, 21lbs 5oz. Two other Plymouth anglers, father and son team Barry and Jacob had two recent lake visits and had some nice action. Barry landed 4 catches with his best weighing 19lbs 13oz and his son Jacob banked 4 fish including a new PB of 13lbs 6oz and a 3lbs green tench. Exeter angling centre's Martin Williams fished 2/3 way up on the left hand bank casting out into open mid water and had regular action throughout his session. He tempted 7 fish, all mostly double figured commons and topping his bag was a 15lbs 4oz specimen. Exeter angler Ben Hoer hooked his first fish at Creedy of 12lbs 14oz recently. New to the venue he has been trying many new tactics and found that a small pop up (by 2") over a spread bed was the bait of choice that session.

With just 8 weeks to go until the end of this year’s season which finishes on Tuesday 1st January at 11pm, there is still some good fishing time to be had, especially as this mild weather is holding for the present moment. Fishing form has definitely improved over the past fortnight with many fish topping and showing on or near the surface. There is a covering of leaves on the main lake giving good base for the fish to hide underneath and they are ce...rtainly pre occupied, swimming and following the wind drift as the leaves circulate around the lake. There have been some good clouds of mud showing indicating that the fish are keen to grub and search for baits on the lake bottom.
Heaviest fish for the fortnight was banked by Exeter angler Ben Weston who fished ¾ way up on the right hand bank casting out into open water. After firing a good spread bed of boilies Ben sat and waited which proved productive later in the day when his rod screamed off. His perseverance that session resulted in a nice specimen common which tipped the scales to 23lbs 3oz.
Largest bag for the period was recorded by Boscastle angler Ian Grimes who once again enjoyed some productive action. Ian decided to stalk in the margins and throughout the day moved many times to get on top of the fish. These tactics proved the best option on the day and he finished his session banking a grand total of 11 fish, all commons. His catches included 2 singles and 9 doubles and topping his bag was a specimen common weighing 22lbs 8oz. His combined bag weight amounted to just over 140lbs of fish, a great result for the time of the year.
Crediton angler Alvin King fished 2/3 way up on the right bank in one of his usual swims and his day began with a single common weighing 7lbs. He then went on to bank three further fish, all common carp and topping his bag was a very clean specimen which scaled 22lbs 7oz.
North Devon angler Dave Passmore had a productive session choosing the point swim on the far bank to fish from. His bag comprised of all common carp and his best catch that session weighed in at 18lbs which made his visit well worth the effort.
Mr R Hancock from Barnstaple in North Devon fished mid way on the far bank casting a ledger rod out into open mid water depths. He managed to tempt out just the one solitary specimen which tipped the scales to the 20lbs mark.
Dawlish angler Bernard Courtney did a weekend session at Creedy and fished ¾ way up along on the right hand bank. After a couple of liners Bernard hooked a nice chunky common carp which weighed 17lbs 8oz on the scales.
Damian Dayman from North Devon had two recent sessions at Creedy, on the first visit he banked 7 fish, all commons up to upper double in size and the most recent session he also banked an unblemished common weighing just over 16lbs.
