Ariel Cubillas: original compositions, guitar, voice. • Rob Coates: bass • Andres Barrero: percussion Ariel Cubillas, from Havana, has got a very rich musical background in Cuba as a composer, performer, and as a music educator as well. More recently, Ariel recorded two high quality LPs in Seville, Spain, where he lived for fourteen years: "Ariel" and "Respira". Most of his music has been inspired by the so-called "Contemporary Cuban Song" movement, a very wide concept that g...ives us an insight into what the modern Cuban Cultural Identity is like nowadays. The Cuban Contemporary Song has roots in the "Nueva Trova" movement, and embraces many musical styles in itself, such as Pop, Blues, Rock, Funk, Bossa Nova and, of course, the Traditional Cuban Music,e.g. Son, Guaguancó, Rumba, etc... This wide range of styles is reflected in Ariel´s songs, as well as in his lyrics, that speak about Love, Politics, Science, Emigration, Loneliness... Rob Coates: active gigging musician in Nottingham and beyond, currently playing with Maniere des Bohemiens and Red Sea among others. Former member of Swing Gitan. Andres Barrero: Spanish percussionist, specialized in Brazilian Choro music. Since he arrived in the UK has played in several bands in the area as a drummer or as a vibist.

The Painting Box are back, featuring guitarist Danny and vocalist Sophie, together they mix a wide range of styles from country, folk and blues to modern day pop, rock and classics. originating in Brighton in the summer of 2017 they began by playing many local venues Brighton had to offer with regular residences at bars, Restaurants, the beach and other music venues. Since leaving Brighton and returning to the Midlands Painting Box has along side regular function gigs been heavily involved with the BBC introducing and Sofar sounds. an EP of our more folky originals can be found on Spotify by searching “painting box - Let me grow EP”.

We are looking forward to having Will Jeffery and Kym Bignell back doing a cover set in their unique style.

Well, that’s it from the Crimson Tree team for 2018 and what a rollercoaster of a year it’s been! We would like to thank all our customers, regulars and new ones too, for choosing to spend your time with us and for supporting us all the way through the lows as well 💕 After the dreadful fire incident in February, I thought we were done but somehow, with the solid support of our local community, we managed to find the strength to rebuild and become even stronger than ever........and we even managed to create Jenkins Bar for us all to enjoy in the process! ☺️ I would like to make a special mention to my team for putting in all the hours of hard work to create such a special place for Sherwood, I’m very grateful for each and everyone of you in my life and look forward to sharing another year with you all xxx Merry Christmas and a happy and healthy New Year to you all xxx Love from Shai & team xxx

Wow!..my first visit,birthday brunch!.. certainly worth waiting for a table.Welcoming,attentive yet unpushy staff.The quality of the food is fab...being able to watch amazing cakes being made right in front of you is marvellous..washed down the last peice of GF chocolate and peanut butter cake with an espresso martini and it was delicious...will definitely be back!

We love this place. The atmosphere is fantastic and the staff always pleasant and welcoming. The owner has got it just right. She is ‘hands on’ and does all baking as well as finding time to make sure the customers are happy. The food is superb and it’s also one of the only places that serves tea for two in a full sized tea pot with proper tea leaves!

We came in here on a Sunday afternoon and it was busy which is always a good sign. Food and drinks were very good ... portion size also generous which is ideal if you’re a big eater like myself. Service was also prompt. So many places now never have enough staff on, and are let down by the service, but it seemed to be well covered here. It was a blazing hot day, and so with the big windows it was like a greenhouse inside. Maybe some fans would be a good idea so it’s less like a sauna? Or air con... but I recognise it’s usually only that hot a few weeks a year here in Nottingham �



My only suggestion is for there to be some more meaty dishes on the menu. Such as chicken or a traditional steak perhaps?

The food is outstanding, breakfast and evening tapas menu! So lucky to have this beautiful venue on my doorstep. The staff are so welcoming and you couldn’t ask for more! They suit all your needs and I must say their espresso martinis are to DIE FOR! Thank you crimson tree �

I went for a meal with a group of friends on Saturday night and I can only say brilliant things about the Crimson Tree,the food was fantastic our waiter Jerome excellent and such fun we were singing at the end of the evening. The decor is stunning and what a wonderful atmosphere. I have raved to everyone I know and I will be back.

I took my mum here on her birthday not knowing what is was like. My mum loved it! She especially loved sitting on the table near the baker, and watching him make the delicious fresh, and some unusual cakes they sell. Beautiful decor and very friendly, smiley staff. I will be back to try their breakfast.

Had a lovely lunch here, the quiche was gorgeous , served with a very varied and different from the norm salad. Husband had a burger which he said was amazing. The atmosphere is buzzing, and the staff are all lovely, friendly and seem to be happy at work, which gives a nice feeling to the place. We love it here

Had a amazing lunch here yesterday in this beautiful/ quirky place! Out of all places to dine, my friend choose to have her birthday lunch here and it didn’t disappoint! Despite being super busy, the staff were very friendly and attentive. Highly recommend ��

Great coffee and cake here yesterday. Couldn't decide between 2 cakes but our server (presumed owner) said something about bringing me a sliver, lo and behold she brought me a full sized slice of (very nice) chocolate tart. Will be back

Excellent level of customer service, they really take care of you and make you feel at home.

A variety of freshly baked goods made in-house, and mouth-watering desert selection. with really great locally sourced coffee too.

Called in on the offchance of a table for two neither of us having been in the evening before. All I can say is the tempura prawns were amazing and my favourite dish though the rest were also lovely! Great service and Great value for money! See you soon!

Came here for the first time today. Really very nice food - the broccoli and stilton soup was the best I have had. Brother enjoyed his feta sandwich, though he wasn't hungry! Very friendly service (even when we asked for the table to be wiped- done with a smile) Also met someone I went to primary school with, who worked there. Will be back!

It’s a warm sunny day and I found myself in Sherwood. I fancied a coffee and made my way to The Crimson Tree...spotted a table outside. Out of politeness I went inside with my 5 bags and asked if I could sit outside. I was informed I could but would need to come in to order and left my bags unattended, although the waiter came out with the menu! So I ordered a coffee made by someone who needs training to make coffee and a fruit scone (your words not mine) which had around 4 pieces of fruit in it, also served warm, so it completely crumbled. I totally understand you have policies about serving outside and maybe have been stung in the past by people not paying! Simply ask customers to pay right away. (Problem solved) And provide the customers who sit outside the same level of service as you provide inside. Just a suggestion, next time your waiters see a person with lots of bags and obviously a single customer....use common sense!
