this fabulous weather here in the Peak District comes at a price.... hard to believe this time last year we had almost a metre of snow in the garden

A friend has just sent us a link to this video. What a positive story.!
A young man who lost a leg in a car accident and refused to let it beat him. He was determined to keep surfing and now surfs for Wales. Well worth a watch if you have time.

Great video from Let's Go Peak District about Birchover, Rowtor rocks and The nine ladies. Lots of history and information - as well as a peek at Birchover's surrounding treasures :)

Wonderfully thought out design with lots of attention to detail for people with various specific challenges and needs. It is clearly a labour of love for the owners and providing a comfortable and suitable facility is clearly really important to them. We found Steve the owner to be most welcoming and nothing was too much to ask. The garden is a real highlight.

We've recently had a week's holiday at Croft Bungalow. It was our first visit to the area in glorious weather. The bungalow had everything we needed - a truly accessible place with adjustable bed, hoist and wheeled shower chair. It was also spacious for my husband who uses a power wheelchair. Friendly, helpful owners Steve & Ruth also made the holiday more enjoyable. What a find!

User

This bungalow was fantastic, very clean and ideal for my grandson who is a fulltime wheelchair user. The bungalow is ideally situated for getting out and about and the local pub The Red Lion was very friendly, will definately be visiting again xx

Spent Christmas here, a lovely accessible Bungalow. Lots of room in the lounge area. Steve was very helpful with ensuring everything was ready and provided extra bits for the kitchen for cooking Christmas Dinner!

The garden is a work in progress at the moment but I was happy to advise on gardening for attracting wildlife for the new fully accessible, low maintenance sensory garden. I am looking forward to seeing photos of it when finished.

Overall, a nice place to stay.

Locally, the Red Lion Inn is a fantastic place to eat and they have a portable ramp for access. Good food, great for special diets, great beer and they stock GF beer too! The village is nice too, OK for a trundle up and down the road with an electric wheelchair or scooter.... Lots of other nice things to do. Much of the Monsal trail is accessible for wheelchairs......

Really enjoyed our stay at Croft Bungalow this August! Very accessible, wonderful owners and a brilliant area to explore.

User

Not stayed in it personally, but a great well thought out cottage for people with serious disability needs

User

My wife and I stayed at croft bungalow with our disabled son Nathan.

We had a fantastic stay and particularly liked the beautiful location of Birchover in the heart of the fantastic Peak District.

Steve and Ruth have thought of everything to make the bungalow as accessible as possible and are always on hand to help with any questions or queries without being in any way intrusive.

There is lots of information provided about the great places to explore nearby and about the accessibility of them

The village of birchover is beautiful and has two lovely pubs both serving great food and both have easy access for a wheelchair

If you are looking for an accessible holiday in Derbyshire to explore this fantastic part of the country, then I highly recommend Croft bungalow

My husband and myself where lucky to have found this gem in the Peak District.

It is not easy to find accessible accommodation for a power chair that provides an electric adjustable bed. But Croft Bungalow has got all that plus very friendly and ever so helpful owners in Steve & Ruth. We can't thank them enough to have given us a week of respite in a beautiful surrounding, whatever the weather.

We managed to explore the High Peak Trail with a hired Boma (all-terrain four wheeled electric wheelchair can be hired from a place 10mins drive away). We very much recommend that. Also, the village has got two fantastic pubs with excellent food. Well worth a visit. (Note: We used our own portable ramp to get in!)

We highly recommend Croft Bungalow and hope to come back again ourselves very soon.

My husband and I visited Croft Bungalow for a short stay last week - a mistake there as we wished we'd booked for longer! We had been attracted by learning online that Steve and Ruth Dawes, the owners, had completely converted the bungalow for disabled use - how often does that happen?

We thought the bungalow was lovely, in a beautiful setting, and with all the amenities for our needs: we travel with two wheelchairs (one motorised) and a Rollator and there was extremely generous space for them and for us. There was comfortable seating, including a reclining chair, comfortable beds, and a very generously-equipped kitchen. All the doorways are wide and there are no steps to negotiate.

We love the Derbyshire countryside and just explored the new - to us - villages around Birchover. One of the places we have always loved is the Chatsworth Farm Shop, with fabulous fresh food. We stopped for a light meal and found that the cafe staff were warm and welcoming, and very helpful about the wheelchair.

We are looking forward to visiting Croft Bungalow again before too long.

My husband and I have recently spent 3 days at Croft Bungalow, even though you are not far away from local places like Bakewell and Matlock the village has a very peaceful feel to it. Especially lived seeing all the sheep and various animals around and about. We are already looking forward to our next visit.

User

Lovely small cottage, completely redesigned, inside and out, to be accessible for wheelchairs and for any necessary equipment. Lovely long garden, with fields and woods beyond, and in a charming village with two great pubs for eating and with all the beauty of the Peak District National Park on the doorstep... Spent a lovely weekend here, thanks.

User

Just returned from a mini-break staying at the Croft Bungalow with my family... One word, 'Amazing'... It really is a fantastic property with accessibility at the heart of it. A beautiful location with great access to Buxton, Bakewell, great places to eat and Chatsworth House, all within 15-30 mins drive. Already thinking about my next trip!

User

Just returned from a lovely weeks break in Croft bungalow. Plenty of space for our daughters Powerchair, she loved the electric bed and we really appreciated Steve putting in a camp bed into the sensory bedroom so our children could share a room. Wet room was lovely and kitchen had everything we could want. Our daughter hasn't left the rocking chair on an evening for a week! Would recommend to anyone.

User

Just returned from a great weekend ....lovely place ...will definitely be booking again

User

Had a fantastic bank holiday weekend. Garden lovely can't wait to see it next year. What a lovely village with 2 old pubs and wheelchair friendly

User

Beautiful, cozy cottage in great location. I would seriously recommend this place especially ideal for those with accessibility issues.

User

Arrived at Croft bungalow in time for check in Steve was there to greet us and was very helpful at check in and during our stay if we needed him. The accessibility for the bungalow was great had a big ramp at the back which was great for our big electric wheelchair. We requested the use of the profile bed and portable hoist both where there on arrival and the hoist was fully charged and easy to use (and looked fairly new). The Garden was all fully accessible for the wheelchair which was great. The other Beds and sofa bed where really comfortable and the bungalow was well maintained and clean.

Would highly recommend to anyone with or even without a disability as it is in such a beautiful part of the uk.

User

An outstanding cottage fully accessible for my needs the garden was the highlight of my stay,

Came home fully relaxed and ready to face the world , I will definitely be back

User

A lovely first visit to the Peak District. Croft Bungalow is a hidden gem and was totally geared up for our disabled son but still retained a homely feel. It was great being able to speak to owner Steve, before our booking and arrival as this took a huge amount of pressure off us to know our sons needs would be met. Fab sensory equipment which our son enjoyed. We can't recommend highly enough and would love to come back again.
