Whitesnake guitarist Micky Moody and the acclaimed blues guitarist Papa George play a very special show at the Crooked Billet, Stoke Row, on Tuesday 24th July. After Deep Purple disbanded in 1976, Whitesnake was formed, including Micky Moody, David Coverdale and Henley musicians Ian Paice and the late Jon Lord. Jon tragically passed away on 16th July 2012; he recorded 6 albums with Whitesnake over a six year period. Jon, Ian Paice and Micky Moody occasionally reunited, most r...ecently at the Royal Albert Hall in 2011. Whilst Micky Moody is best known for his time with Whitesnake, he also enjoyed hits with Juicy Lucy, Frankie Miller, Roger Chapman and Chris Farlowe. Guitarist Magazine described Papa George as one of the world’s finest blues guitarists. He has recorded, toured and performed with numerous artists including Robert Plant, Gary Moore and Peter Green. Muddy Waters described Papa George as ‘Spectacular’. On Tuesday 24th July expect an evening of slide guitar, bluegrass, blues & early rock ‘n’ roll on an astonishing collection of vintage guitars. A rare treat, two exquisite musicians unplugged and plugged in. Tickets £15 and table reservations, contact the Crooked Billet on 01491 681 048.

We’re supporting Launchpad Reading and taking that support to the Henley Festival this year.
Inspired by Lou our Crooked Billet manager, we’re supporting Launchpad at this year’s Henley Festival. We have a unique London Street Brasserie pop-up restaurant at the Henley Festival a Jazz Spiegeltent a traditional brasserie structure that includes comfortable seating and booths. Support local charity Launchpad and book for dinner with the London Street Brasserie at this year’s Hen...ley Festival and £5 from every booking will go to Launchpad – please mention ‘Launchpad’ when booking. If you’re a regular at either restaurant you’ll recognise faces: Paul, Lou and London Street Brasserie Manager Jason and Head Chef Mike will all welcome you at the Henley Festival this year.
Lou as a child suffered from acute asthma and was in and out of hospital, she still suffers from asthma today. In October last year she started training for the Reading Half Marathon to raise money for Launchpad and couldn't even run for 5 minutes. When the Reading Half was cancelled on the morning she was so disappointed and didn’t want to let the people who sponsored her down including many regular diners at the Crooked Billet. So she signed up for the Bracknell Half Marathon in May which she completed and raised over £1,000 for Launchpad!
Paul Clerehugh has also supported Launchpad by donating a dinner for 20 people at The Blade at a ball organised by Haslams estate agents which raised a staggering £3,500 for Launchpad!

LAST FEW TICKETS. CALL THE PUB TO BOOK 01491 681048
Formerly known as Rebecca Poole, this outstanding singer oozes charisma, which combined with her sultry style & sure-footed vocal delivery makes for a masterful evening. Undeniably jazz, but utterly accessible with pop overtones. Think Nancy Sinatra, Nina Simone, Peggy Lee, Amy Winehouse & add the faintest hint of Sade. Her vocal prowess is stunning & her live performances demonstrate a strong connection with any audience lu...cky enough to see her live. She has impressed at a number of major events including a 90,000 strong crowd at Wembley Stadium, International Formula 1, Andrew Lloyd Webber & Guests, The London Lifestyle Awards & the Henley Festival. Perhaps you caught her recent performance on “Later…” with Jools Holland. Rebecca recently played the Royal Albert Hall with Jools & has just finished supporting him on tour. Her music is a mix of originals with some covers, with double bass & guitar accompaniment. Purdy sings on the lower clef, delicious on the ear, dreamy & seductive. We can’t wait to welcome her back to the Crooked Billet. £20 music cover charge

Tom Brosseau is a Folk singer/ songwriter from North Dakota. I have the pleasure of welcoming Tom to the Crooked Billet as part of his 2018 European tour promoting his new Album "Treasures Untold". Tom was half of the duo Les Shelleys who along with Angela Correa had a massive hit with their cover of Rum & Coca Cola. Tom learned the acoustic guitar from his grandmother and has toured internationally every year of his career across Japan, Canada, Portugal, Australia & the USA ...to name a few. He has exchanged songs and poetry with many talented folks, including Susan Orlean, Ramblin' Jack Elliott, Patrick Marber, Bonnie Raitt and the late Sam Hinton. Mayor Mike Brown presented Brosseau the Key to the City of Grand Forks, North Dakota in 2007 for his album of original work entitled Grand Forks.Tom has performed with Becky Stark and John C. Reilly in John Reilly & Friends, a band devoted to the current American folk music revival, whose members also include Dan Bern, Willie Watson, Greg Leisz, Jerry Roe and Sebastian Steinberg. Tom has been featured on Cerys Matthews’ BBC6 show, NPR’s All Songs Considered, Weekend Edition & NPR’s First Listen; his songs included in Judd Apatow’s Netflix series Love, and in the Showtime series, Shameless, and chosen by Natalie Portman for a compilation. “No artist possesses the same peculiar qualities as Brosseau…. The power of his performing persona is so strong that he can pervade the whole room with his subjective existence, making time-warped acolytes out of his audience.” - BBC.com

Went to a wedding reception at the Crooked Billet, we had the most amazing day, food was superb, staff were so friendly and worked so hard to make everything perfect, highly recommended.

User

We had the pleasure of attending a wedding locally on Saturday and the reception was at the Crooked Billet. I can honestly say it was the BEST reception I've ever attended. I was continually amazed by the amount and quality of the food that just kept on coming. The staff were fabulous, venue amazing, food to die for and we all had such a memorable day. It's just a pity we live so far away. Well done and thanks so much to all involved in Karen and Craig Donaldson 's wedding ❤

User

User

User

I have been going to the Crooked Billet on and off for many years and have always received exemplary service. The food is always top notch and the atmosphere is so welcoming, I never want to leave! I would go more except I would be the size of a house. I look forward to my next visit.

User

First time I have visited this fine establishment and I have to say it won't be the last. The food was exquisite, the service was second to none and I would highly recommend this place to everyone

User

Fabulous place. Food is wonderful and the music nights are huge fun

User

Fabulous on every level... friendly, full of character, truly amazing food and the owner Paul is the perfect host.

User

Fabulous food, excellent menu choices, presented well by staff who know the meaning of customer service. Well done! The music was fabulous of course, Pete Lincoln was showing his immense musicality skill and his humour and professionalism saved the day when the C.B's. P.A.system failed him. His second set when the faulty speaker was disconnected allowed him to perform and not be distracted. Over all it was a lovely evening and I would thoroughly recommend the music evenings or just a great meal out.

User

Excellent food and surroundings, plus we had the absolute pleasure of listening to the beautiful music of Glenn Tilbrook (and his very talented young son, Leon)

User

Always top class food, with top class service - cannot be faulted!!
