Sports massage is a deep tissue massage that helps to enhance the preparation, performance and recovery of all sports enthusiasts. Its used to treat all muscle and tissue related aches, pains and strains, and can also provide effective relief from back problems. But can also be used as part of an injury prevention strategy. Sports massages are 45 minutes long and are tailored to your individual needs.
Pilates classes are run from 2 locations (Fengate and Stilton). Pilates utilises specific exercise routines that are used to correct muscular imbalances in the body. It can be used to treat and prevent a multitude of muscular complaints and is particularly good for those suffering with neck and back pain, or posture related injuries. Please contact Frances for the most up to date Pilates timetable.

If anyone is interested! Good beer/ale, a gin bin with a huge selection of gin, lots of rugby (particularly on the Sunday) and lots of bands (all weekend)! Letβs hope the βοΈ decides to come back out!

β¨οΈπββοΈπββοΈ For all my runners out there doing the London Marathon this weekend (and others if this hot weather continues) please be sensible in the heat.... here are my top 5 tips for running a hotter marathon:
1οΈβ£ DONβT GO FOR A PB THIS TIME!!!! Slow your pace slightly and aim to enjoy the race or you risk becoming very poorly π€ or not completing the run! After all that hard work and training you want to be able to finish! Remember this sudden change in temperature means you... havenβt had time to acclimatise.
2οΈβ£ KEEP HYDRATED π§sipping water little and often!!! You will also sweat more π¦π° so think about ELECTROLYTES and replenishing these during the run!
3οΈβ£ SUNCREAM!!! πΉ Hot and burnt skin will only make you hotter so waterproof high factor sun cream is essential!
4οΈβ£ Clothing - keep cool and maybe ditch the crazy, heavy and toasty costumes!
5οΈβ£ VASELINE!!!! Maybe take a small pot of Vaseline in your running belt to combat chaffing as this is a real problem when you sweat more and can be unbearable (I have been a victim of this in the past). Men be extra careful of the nipple region π«. Might also be sensible to take a couple of EXTRA STICKY PLASTERS and/or blister plasters incase of any shoe rubbing.
GOOD LUCK EVERYONE!!!! ππ»

My lovely friend Ian is running some special sessions for those needing to work on flexibility. Get in touch with Ian to book onto this 5 week course. Worth it if your training hard and feeling like you donβt make enough time to do all the necessary stretching! Marathon runners take note... injury PREVENTION is key!
