Booked Sunday lunch for 6 of us meeting up from near York, near Southport and Cheshire and it was superb. Tastefully refurbished, very friendly and efficient service, appetising menu ,delicious meals attractively plated up - will definitely return - just one request for chef to offer apple pie next time for the traditionalists amongst us !! :)

Went in for tea and crisps - but they said they did not have any crisps or nuts - and the ladies toilets were blocked - so not good

We visited the Cross Keys for an early evening meal and found the services by the staff to be appalling. On arrival we were seated at a table and given a menu, the waitress came over to the table after getting her attention and took drink orders saying she would return for our meal orders. A different waitress brought our drinks but didn't wait to take our meal orders. After waiting and waiting, other staff stood talking or walked past as though we were invisible, again I waved to get her attention to which she said she would be over shortly. She served numerous customers before us, taking meal orders as we had full view of the bar we could easily observe. When eventually she came over I asked why she had taken orders before ours (bearing in mind these people when now sat eating) she blatantly lied saying they had previously ordered which we know was untrue and then tried to wriggle her way out of what had been said. If you want good honest service don't visit here !!!!!!

Shocking experience! Booked for Sunday dinner at 7pm and arrived at 6.45pm. Shown straight to our table in the back dinning area. Waited almost an hour for meals to arrive, then noticed there was no vegetables on our Sunday roast dinners. As this was not explained to us we asked the waitress why we had no vegetables. She said 'we have probably run out, you are lucky if you get any veg at this time of day and I don't fancy asking the chef as he is in a bad mood!' We were shocked by her blunt response and even more shocked that she walked off with no further solution or offer of reduction despite only being given half a meal! To add insult to injury, when we asked for the bill we were then informed it was cash only payments due to the card machine being broken! It was very embarrassing and this should have been explained to us on ordering food at least! The bill was over £90 and we had to even scrabble around in our cars for loose change to meet the bill. I paid the total and complained again about the meal, the only response I got was a prediction about who the unprofessional waitress was who served us! Shocking service, grumpy chef, unprofessional staff, no veg, no card machine, no toilet rolls, no hand soap, no chance of us returning!!!!
