Cross Keys Inn

About Cross Keys Inn

Welcome to The Cross Keys Inn. It's all about Real Ale, Somerset Ciders, excellent creative locally sourced food, and good comfortable accommodation.

Cross Keys Inn Description

This beautiful 16th century building has two good size bars with open fires and a peaceful snug area.

The pub was extensively renovated in 2013 and everybody involved worked tirelessly to restore this historic old Inn. Our aim being to create a village asset and community meeting place.

We have reused original materials to retain the character. We were happily surprised by hidden beautiful elm beams in the ceiling and found original doorways, a fireplace, along with a mixture of flagstone and parquet flooring.

Real Ale is our passion and is served from the barrel with locally sourced, creative food, award winning local pies, Somerset ciders and good wines to compliment. We have an extensive south facing garden which is loved by locals, families and guests. We have ample parking in our two parking areas.

For those wishing to stay, our six beautiful en-suite letting rooms have been much praised on Trip Advisor and Booking.com and we also have two acres of camping ground complete with showers and toilets for those who wish to stay the night. Come and meet our friendly team who will be happy to make your visit enjoyable and comfortable.

Oh and. . . . . we have a very nice cat.

We were immediately welcomed on arrival by locals and found the staff absolutely lovely and helpful. Room was very clean and comfortable with nice shower room. Cooked breakfast was included and huge (vegetarian breakfast great)! Also had dinner with the best sticky toffee pudding I’ve had. Plenty of free parking. Was a great location for nearby shopping at Clarks Village in Street and A-Ha concert at Yeovil. We can’t wait to return!!!

User

We went to The Crosskeys Sunday evening for a meal and really enjoyed it .. We will be back ..I am also going to recommend to our guests who stay in the Garden Room to try you out. Many thanks . Vivienne and Andrew Somerton .. Tinhouse Antiques .

User

We visited for the first time a# we attended a birthday party. Considering the numbers who had to be served their Sunday lunch we didn't have high expectations of the food. How wrong could we be! The Roast Beef was fabulous and the roast potatoes, proper roasties not from the freezer, were crispy on the outside and fluffy in the middle, delicious. The vegetables were great and the Yorkshire Pudding was huge! Topping it off was a delicious gravy too. We had chosen well for afters, the lovely creamy light St Clements posset with raspberries on top, perfect way to end a wonderful meal. For those looking for local real ale there was a big chalk board but as we were driving we couldn't take advantage. Definitely a place to visit again, preferably with one of our children driving!

Thank you to the team responsible, a great day all round.

PS the function room was great too!

User

We stayed on the campsite for two nights, a nice campsite, and what a brilliant pub , if carlesburg made pubs...

User

We stayed here on the way to Devon , the pitch was fine with a very nice loo and shower block and a really nice and helpful camp warden . We had a fantastic meal that evening and a great breakfast the next day . The kids (2 & 5) loved rolling round the field and they seemed to really like the food on the kids menu. We ended up coming back and staying another night which was just as great! The staff were all really lovely and helpful and the beer and wine was pretty great too . It's such a fantastic stop !

User

We met up with friends for a meal here yesterday evening. I ordered the stuffed aubergine, only to discover when it arrived that the stuffing was full of olives, which I hate! When I let the staff know they were fantastic, and immediately offered me a replacement of my choice, which was delicious. Thank you for such amazing customer service and a wonderful evening. We were meeting a friend we hadn't seen for a long time, and we couldn't have asked for a better place to do so. Great food, great service and a warm, welcoming atmosphere. Everything a good pub should be.

User

We are staying on the rally field behind the pub and can only say how impressed we are with the pub, really friendly staff, nice food, and good choice of real ales, won't hesitate to stay here again.

User

This place has got it all if you ask me (which you didn’t). Great selection af ales from the Wood, two blazing fireplaces, the friendliest of staff, live music, lovely rooms, amazing food and a campsite for if you have one too many.

Yup, l think that just about covers it.

User

The Cross Keys is a really lovely little place with a charming decor and really lovely staff. It's set in a little village surrounded by some stunning homes and the best bit? Real ales and ciders from the barrel and at prices which are actually cheaper than back home in Swansea.

Spending a couple of hours here last night before retiring to the rooms upstairs (which by the way were well finished and very modern...) was easy and very enjoyable.

I should probably mention that the food here is awesome.

User

Thanks guys for looking after us so well, extremely busy hard working staff who always had a friendly smile and chat, nothing was too much trouble. The food was delicious and freshly cooked. Couldn't have asked for more, we had a brilliant weekend, only sorry we have to miss the hog roast!

User

Thank you to the staff who helped out on the bar at our festival wedding in the campsite on the 19.08.17; they were great. Thank you also to Dave and Jane for letting us hold our wedding there, I can’t wait to show you the photos and videos from the day, celebrating and respecting your lovely site. From the moment I saw it 4 years ago, I could imagine getting married here and have been planning it in my head ever since! Thank you both, and to Tom Wilton (the amazing landlord) for making it happen and making our day so special. PS – we love the Cross Keys chips and all of my family and friends that stayed in the campsite and the B & B rooms couldn't have been happier!!!

User

Sunday lunch was excellent. I had roast pork it was delicious. Staff very nice nothing too much trouble. Veggies freshly cooked. Service a little slow but food more than made up for this. Would certainly visit again.

User

Stayed locally for a week, ate here twice, Sunday roast was amazing, roast spuds probably the best I’ve ever had, then we went mid week and food was just as good, helpful staff, a great place.

User

Stayed here to go to a wedding in the area. The staff were very welcoming and the room was very clean and comfortable.

Had breakfast the next day and I cannot fault the quality of the food and service was excellent.

Will definitely be coming back.

User

Stayed 1 night in the camping field as going to a local wedding. Camping facilities were clean and tidy. Had lunch which was gorgeous - especially the pan fried code with the leek and bacon sauce. Breakfast was very good too - the local sausages were really tasty. Added bonus of being there for their beer and music festival so whiled away a very pleasant sunny afternoon in the beer garden. Will come back again.

User

I had a lovely meal of lager battered fish and chips followed by lovely local ice cream. A friendly atmosphere lots going on. Would recommend the pub

User

I can't recommend this pub enough. I needed to book a large table for adults and children at the weekend and Tom let us have the function room to ourselves so the kids could run around and play. The food was excellent and the service received from all staff was friendly and welcoming. We will definitely be back!

User

Everything and everyone of the staff were first class with a special mention to Finn the barman what a lovely young man with a great personality nothing was too much trouble thank you all so much and the food was some of the best i have ever tasted

User

We had a lovely stay on the campsite last September with our children. At the time, we found it relaxing, peaceful and a good base for visiting lots of places. The warden was very welcoming and we had planned to return.

Such a shame to see that you no longer welcome children. Discriminatory and also slightly condescending, since the campsite is only a basic site. You are happy to announce that you welcome dogs though.
